Memorable moments from a disappointing 5-11 season
Hi all....new member of the warpath - have surfed and viewed posts on here for over a year till I got over the inertia to finally join it. Thanks to Mattyk, JoeCrisp, and all else responsible for maintaining the site.
Since we're back on the path to the good ol days, I thought a good way to purge the nasty after taste of last year's disastrous 5-11 season would be to re-live some of the few positives from it. So feel free to contribute favorite moments from 2003. I'll start: 1. Preseason game against the Ravens: Ramsey hands off to Morton - pitchback to Ramsey who struggles to grip the ball - but when he finally does, he fires a 39 yarder over the outstreched arms of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and right into the arms of a waiting LC in the end zone. TD Washington Redskins! This was one of the few times last year we managed to pick up a blitz with 5 offensive linemen and one RB (Morton), and still get off a successful scoring play. |

Armstead's safety in the Atlanta game.

The Gardner to Candidate TD to win a game. For a second, I thought Spurrier was smart!
Welcome, Hurrykaine!

Opening game - Probably one of the most memorable of last year.
Ramsey ducks the defender ( not sure who it was ) and throws the bomb to LC. Then to top it all off J.Hall making the game winning field goal. Jetskins beat the Jets. |

Lets not forget the post game interview Lisa Guerrero had with P.Ramsey when she asked him " How did it feel to play against your old teammates? "

yea that Gardner play was used 3 times last season - once to win the Seattle game as you pointed out, and then twice in the game against the Bears - once to Morton for a TD, and the other time Gardner threw to Hasselback for a TD that was ruled an incompletion. |

At the time that flea-flicker took place, I thought it was gonna be a shadow of things to come - didn't realize it'd be one of the brightest spots of the entire season for Spurrier. |

Welcome Hurrykaine!
When Coles ran back and stripped the Seattle defender before he reached the endzone, causing a fumble and preventing a touchdown. That to me was the moment Coles became a true Redskin that I want here for a long time.

Most memorable moment, hmmmmm......
I'd have to go with Ramsey's 25 yard scramble in the Jets game. It was shocking to see him rambling down the field. Seemed like the longest run from scrimmage we had all year. |

I like all the plays mentioned so far plus the morton kickoff return for a td, but one of the main bright spots from last season in my mind is that the skins were the last team to beat the Patriots. I know that's kinda silly but I think thats pretty kewl.

Selfish but true; singing the National Anthem on my first trip to Fed Ex field for the Jets-Redskins game. I can get choked up singing at home (Yes, I do)but this had been almost 20 years that I'd waited to see a home game and it was even more exciting and atmospheric than I thought it could be. My ex getting her Arrington jersey signed by LaVar was superb, her high pitch squeal was not. Meeting Brud was up there also.
The game wasn't half bad either. |
