Clarification on Brunell's Injury
Clarification On Brunell Injury
So it was mid-season when the decision was made after all. I love you Gibbs! Always! |

Re: Clarification on Brunell Injury
Of course, this does raise the thinking (I'm sure) that the only reason Campbell played was not due to lack of performance on Brunell's part but an injury.
Either way, I'm happy to move forward into the Campbell Era. And I remain a fan of Brunell, though I don't think there's much more he can do here.

Re: Clarification on Brunell Injury
I'm sure the injury to Brunell played into their thinking when making the switch to Campbell, but a change was coming regardless.

Re: Clarification on Brunell Injury
Asked last week if he expected Brunell back next season, Gibbs said: "Mark and I had a good, long talk. It was real positive. We like Mark a lot. Hopefully that will work out for us."
Translation: Oh, hell no!

I agree because we're not going to find a better back up to Campbell.

Re: Clarification on Brunell Injury
So we're not going to have any cap penalties if he retires right?

Re: Clarification on Brunell Injury
Wasn't that spoken to in the post article? The decision to change QBs had been made based on when we reached a certain number of losses. The injury just made it easier to pull the trigger.

Re: Clarification on Brunell Injury
If he was planning on retiring, he probably wouldn't have had surgury on his shoulder right after the season ended, I would think.

In fact, he may not have actually decided to retire just yet, but this may certainly serve as a catalyst. |

Re: Clarification on Brunell Injury
Having the surgery before may be a smart cost savings move on Brunell's part. What medical benefits does he receive while under contract versus if he retires? Do the Redskins pretty much take care of everything right now? What medical costs does the player pay now versus after they retire?
