I Think Archuleta Will Be Back..Right???
Its such a large cap figure. more importantly, IT MAKES SENSE TO SEE IF HE CAN PLAY IN THIS SYSTEM!! I mean, since when does a guy get 5 months, and after that, the team decides he's not capable? I think he should get 1 more year but we should definately have a contingency plan.

Give him another year???? He's not a rookie. He's a seasoned vet.
Unfortunately he likely will be back due to cap numbers, unless we can unload him in a trade. ps- why do we continue to talk AA in every thread?

i was just thinking about all the AA hatred. Its justified, but still, i think its extremely rash to say "he's gone" after one season. If he gets more comfortable in this system, his play could go up.

I still like the idea of making him an LB.

Sorry to say but he's definitely gone. I don't understand why some are holding out hope for him. He's an experiment gone wrong and they quickly shut him down. I honestly don't see a good reason why the coaches would want him back.

People seem to think the coaching staff is giving up on him. No way, Jose. They gave him plenty of chances to learn the system and show what he can do. Bottom line, he can't cover well enough to be on our defense. The day he gets cut can't come fast enough for my tastes.

I think they have to wait at least one year to soften the cap blow.

Re: I Think Archuleta Will Be Back..Right???
I hope they give him another chance, like I said the bears were interested in him as well. I doubt that interest was not warranted at all. I am sure he is effective at a safety if used to his strengths. I blame GW for picking AA up without knowing that he will not be a good fit for the system. I am not gonna give all the blame to AA .

Arch is good as gone. I think the most the Skins could possibly hope for at this point would be to unload him to another team in exchange for some compensation. But since he has little to no trade value, he'll likely get the axe.

Re: I Think Archuleta Will Be Back..Right???
I still have a tiny bit of hope that he comes back to camp a new player, but it's highly unlikely given all we've seen thus far. It'll come down to a business decision; is it too costly to cut him, or would it be worse for team chemistry to keep him if he's not going to get any playing time?
He was never a great cover guy, but it also seems that the neck injury has made him tentative in hitting. I wonder to what degree his coverage ability has been impacted by that injury. It does seem he is unable to run & look back at the same time! |

He's gone, and there's clearly more going on here than his play. This is a failed marriage.

Re: I Think Archuleta Will Be Back..Right???
Listening to the John Riggins show on the way home from work and they had a beat writer from the St. Louis newspaper (who also happend to be a Redskin fan). He said everyone in St. Louis could not believe the contract Adam weas given because people knew he had a bad back and this limited his run stuffing ability and since the injury he has never been the same. He went on to say that this decision by the Redskins was made because of 1 of 2 things: 1.) One of the coaches wanted him really bad or 2.) Someone who does not have football decision making ability/knowledge got involved in getting him here. I don't want this to turn into a GM question thread - just passing along the qoute from the guy.

Re: I Think Archuleta Will Be Back..Right???
AA is going through the same thing that LaVar went through when he was here. Bash me all you want, but Williams promised a certain playing style to him and his agent and he had him doing something totally different. I think given an offseason and OTA's, training camp AA may turn out to be a good player for us. the guy is a player, fast, strong, great work ethic. GIve him a year to learn. Hopefully he isn't so far in GW doghouse (for what ever reason) that they completely forget about him. GW has some issues. he is a little arogant and once he starts disliking you, you are done!
