Changes at RB for 2007
anybody think that portis will request to be traded after the way betts has played since he's been out?i can't see too many changes next year at rb,i still see portis, betts, dockett, sellers, and rock back.
anybody think the skins may shop portis to somebody like jacksonville, atlanta,or maybe even the dolphins?

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
There is a slim chance the skins may shop portis but i feel its unlikely based on what gibbs has said about portis being the starting back. A big part of betts success running is the O-Lines play has been fantastic.

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
No, because Gibbs himself said that Portis is our guy and clearly Betts was comfortable with being on the same team as a Portis otherwise he would've waited for free agency. If one thing is clear to me it is that our Running backs are comfortable with playing with each other. I can't wait for the two back set next year.

Betts is awesome back there. Today he goes unnoticed but still rished for 119 and a 5.4 avg. Thats awesome and I think him and Portis will be a lethal combination back there next year.

Holy crap. Redskinhog1963, are you who I think you are? The grammar sure is the same. If so, what a blast from the past!

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
Matty, is an immediate ban possible for anyone starting a trade/cut Portis thread? C'mon, the guy is top 10 back in the league when healthy.. Betts has had 5 good games in his career, 4 of them this year.. He's a good complimentary back but he's not a 16 game feature back.

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
gotta give each at least 10-15 carries a game, then ride the hot guy on that day

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
betts has been good, but it seems like he is going to fumble on just about every play

This subject has been beaten to a pulp. We need both back healthy and running the rock.

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
The combination did not look that well this year due to the injuries to Portis and the lack of prolonged drives at the beginning of the season. The way the playcalling is shaping up and hopefully the continous development of Campbell the offense will sustain more drives in each game and in turn give both backs plenty of touches.

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
Betts is obviously happy with whatever role he has in Washington. He just wants to be a Redskin and signing that 5 year deal proved as such. While saying that, I can't help but to feel Betts' role will greatly increase next year. Let us not forget that when Gibbs had his championship teams, he always carried at least two running backs that could start for any team in the league.

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
FOX had a stat that I just barely caught -- something about Betts being the only running back in Redskins history with as many rushing yards over three straight games? Anyone else hear that?

Re: Changes at RB for 2007
Betts now has 933 yards rushing on the season, he should easily crack 1000 now barring injury. He's had a heck of a season!
