Patrick Willis
Patrick Willis Scouting Report - 2007 NFL Draft Prospect
anyone have any info on him? he seems like he could be a good fit for MLB, a playmaker perhaps. id be interested in trading down and getting him. MLB seems also to be a pretty safe position to pick

Re: Patrick Willis
If we pick up a middle linebacker, what's going to happen to Marshall? If he moves back over...where does that put Rocky? Granted, I haven't been able to see too many games this year, but is Marshall playing that bad in the middle, or is it that the rest of the D is sucking so bad that he looks bad.

Re: Patrick Willis
I think Marshall has been solid but nothing more. I think we miss Pierce's leadership and by all accounts Marshall's strong suit isn't being a leader. Physically he is smallish so he struggles against the run. I think he is better suited to play the weakside where he can make more plays in space and utilize his speed and agility personally. I would like an upgrade in the middle and to get Rocky in there. I am concerned about Rocky's lack of playing time. Seems ominous to me when do-nothings are getting the action and he isn't. Maybe this weekend was the beginng.
But overall I think we have greater needs elsewhere on D. A safety, starting level corner, another nickleback type corner, a tackle with push, and a end who brings something(anything please) to the table opposite Carter. We are getting old on D and if ROcky is any indication it takes a lot of time for young guys to gain Williams' confidence enough to play. We need to get guys in now so they can be ready before we get too old. |

Re: Patrick Willis
Marshall has played like garbage this year, but a lot of that has to do with his coming off shoulder surgery. He filled in admirably for Pierce last year. I still favor him as a weakside linebacker in certain packages rather than as an MLB.

Re: Patrick Willis
Willis is one of the top 2 lbs, but he's probably not in the top 10 overall.

Re: Patrick Willis
Last Sunday I heard Marshall's name when I saw him get head faked by LJ Smith BURNT for a TD with 3:09 left in the 1st Q...
