Trying To Run His Way Into Skins Record Book

With all thats gone on quietly Rock Cartwright is trying to run his way into the record books. He currently has 1,1160 yards in kick-off returns and the only player in team history with more is Brian Mitchell. Mitchell who holds the teams current record set in 1994 had 1,478. Rock is averaging four kickoff returns per game, 24.2 yards per kickoff and if he maintains this will finish the season with 1,547 yards. It's a shame that our season is not going as well as his but it would be nice to see him set the record. Just thought Rock was do a thread for what he has done. My sorce is the Virginia Pilot but the number can easly be looked up which I did on the NFL.com. He is also ranked 13th in the NFL and is one of only four to return a kick for a TD this year.

I think it's great that Rock is doing so well as our KR. On the other hand, having a good KR with a lot of yards usually means he's getting a lot of opportunities which is a poor reflection on the team's Defense.

he is so fast outta the gate, before you know it, he has burned 2/3 of the kick coverage, leaving only a few tacklers in his way, he hits the seam to perfection, and always makes the first tackler miss or shakes it off. Maybe he should be getting the ball on third and longs??????

Wow, nearly 12000 yards on kick returns alone. Move over Emmitt

Seriously though, good post. That's some great info

What I like about the Rock is, he run's north south, and as long as he continues to do that, he'll be effective at what he does. He could be our answer on KO team for a long time.

Exactly, he almost reminds me a little of B Mitch. He doesn't waste alot of time.

Lets not forget he is equally as good on kick coverage and blocked a punt last week!

Btw, I hear Nemo Broughton is the fastest bagger safeway has ever had

That's really good for Rock and all, but that a statistic says 2 things

1) Rock returns kicks well
2) We suck on defense.

At least until we unceremoniously dump him like we did Mitchell...

But this is a guy who was supposed to be cut after we brought Duckett in. He's had a probowl caliber season. I for one am amazed.

Re: Trying To Run His Way Into Skins Record Book

Special teams have been great this year and Rock is a big part of it. It is too bad that his blocked punt was meaningless last week because it was a huge play.

Not to mention Frost was almost unconscious last week. He was an inch away from a long punt settling on the two inch line.

The special teams are a definite positive to take into next year.
