Tony McGee Reaction to Carolina!
Hello Everyone, I hope you all had great Thanksgivings:
It is nice to come back after a win for a change. I thought it was their best game of the season, a very complete game. The Skins’ finally put a full game together. I was very impressed with Vernon Fox playing the safety position. The biggest question mark for me, as I’m sure it is for everyone else, is why haven’t we seen this type of an output consistently from the team? That was what I thought, especially defensively, that we would see out of the Skins’ this season. I know I say this almost weekly too, but they need to run TJ Duckett more, although I thought Betts did a good job. Lot’s of questions on this one, as far as the Greg Williams article. Honestly, I’m in the dark on the situation just as much as all of you are. I have no clue who said what was said. Basically the only guy I would rule out is Sean Taylor because of his relationship (or lack thereof) with the media. I’m hoping it was something that was said in the past, and rumors will fly. However, if that’s how they are going to play after something like that, I guess it was a big help. Realistically though, this is something that’s not too good and could cause some problems in the off-season. Looking at the rest of the season, the Skins’ still control where they will end up. They looked very good this weekend, but we have to see how it carries over. All the teams they play are teams in the hunt for the wild card, so every win they have will knock someone down a notch. The Redskins are playing very well at home, and this is a big game this week against the Falcons. The two away games, especially New Orleans will be very tough, but every time they can come through it will hurt someone else’s chances. Touching on the “Gibbs Meltdown” last year, I have seen something like that twice by him in my career with the Redskins. I saw it when I first got there, and once when we were at the Super Bowl and I will say that something like that is very effective. I think in this case, its something he should have done earlier without question. Better late than never I suppose. Finally, the thing to keep in mind about Mike Vanderjact is that he really is not an outdoor kicker, he is a better Astroturf kicker. As you’ve seen this year, he’s not even doing that well. Novak isn’t a great kicker, but I don’t know if Vanderjact would be a huge upgrade at the position. Thanks guys! Hopefully the Skins’ will get another win next week to make things easy! Take Care!
