Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
I've noticed in the last few weeks that these two free agent acquisitions are starting to get comfortable in the system and have begun to make plays. Maybe Carter wasn't a bust, I just feel he needs to be put in a better position to make plays. These two players have a lot of talent, and they are here to stay in my mind. Your thoughts.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
Im not to sure about Carter, he seems too small, and he gets pushed around. I haven't seen the speed we heard about in the offseason.
Now I have been sweating Lloyd since the preseason lol. This kid is a baller, and it is unfortunate because his number hasn't been called enough this year. I always see him laying it out on the line every play, if it is a pass to him or a run. I remember the run Portis had for a TD agaisnt Dallas, that was all Lloyd blocking, and he was really excited. That is what I wanna see out of a deadbeat skins team, passion. When we are losing, Lloyd seems to be in pain, if you look at him on the sideline, he looks like the kid playing football in the park. Fights really hard every game and wants to win. He has a pulse, and I am not to sure the rest of this team has that. I hope he stays with us for many years.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
I've been very impressed with Lloyd's downfield blocking on both runs and passes to other receivers. Likewise, I've been happy with some of the catches he's made, especially since he hardly ever see the ball. I'd like to see him run more after the catch, but we all knew that he isn't known for that coming into the season, so I can deal with it.
As for Carter, I'm not impressed but I don't think he's completely useless. One thing that I found really funny was during the dallas game my buddy turned to me and said, "the problem with Carter is that he basically just runs up the field, so he's hardly ever near the ball." On the very next play dallas tried that reverse with glenn; since Carter was already 8 yards into the backfield (and 4 yards past the QB) he was in perfect position to make a nice tackle for a loss.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
One thing i heard about Lloyd and Randle El is they do not scramble around to get open when the pocket breaks down and Brunell was forced to run. I haven't seen that for myself but I'm hoping that's not the case.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
You heard that from BMitch or the game annoucer i think lol. I think that might be true to an extent, but that is with Brunell. I think the recievers knew he couldnt get it to him. I doubt that will be an issue with Campbell.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
yeah, leave the YAC up to moss and randle el, that is their specialty, while I think lloyd could become more of a redzone threat with his jumping ability.
Carter just isnt being used correctly, I think he would thrive in the 3-4. He's better when he starts the play upright. We don't have many athletes on our defense, we lack speed, that is something he brings to the table. You have to admit he is making some plays.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
Word. That was great blocking, and he was SO pumped after that. He deserves most of the credit for that play ending in a TD. I can't say anything bad about Lloyd ... still waiting on Carter though :/

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
Yeah, he played 3-4 last year in SF, but he was a LB. Still, I think he'd do worse in a 3-4 ... he needs as much help on the line as he can get.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
lloyd is quickly becoming one of my favorite redskins. I like his passion and his enthusiasm. I thought it was cool of him to post a blog during training camp and he seems to have amazing physical gifts for someone as freakin skinny as that guy is...lol...

Oh yeah ... in an interview Lloyd was once quoted as saying he loves crack and peanut butter sandwiches ... hehe.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
If we're thinking 3-4, THAT'S where you could actually use Archuleta.

Re: Carter and Lloyd Looking Promising
lloyd isn't bad and he blocks well.... lloyd and el are still overpaid though (the next highest offer to el was 8mill SB, 18mill total - vs our 10mill SB, 31mill total).
carter' looked average at best he's shown some improvement though, but for what he's paid? :/ and yes, you need to judge performance according to contracts, because those huge overheads hurt the team's ability to improve. |
