Redskins Pending Free Agents
Matty, this is the kind of thing that would go nice in a Salary Cap / Personnel forum. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
Here are the 'Skins pending free agents: Derrick Dockery Ethan Albright Ladell Betts TJ Duckett Ade Jimoh Derrick Frost Kenny Wright Warrick Holdman Jeff Posey Tyson Walter Mike Pucillo Vernon Fox Todd Wade Todd Yoder Jim Molinaro Ryan Boschetti Some interesting decisions on this list: Derrick Frost has punted alright, 42.3 yards per punt, 36.3 net of the return which is about middle of the NFL pack. Ethan Albright is a rock solid long snapper. Will GW let Holdman go and let Rocky play? Is Kenny Wright a goner? Will Ade be kept for teams? But most importantly, will the Redskins actively pursue Dockery to remain the starter at LG? He hasn't played well lately. And will Betts be back?

Derrick Dockery
Ethan Albright Ladell Betts (cap reasons dont permit) TJ Duckett Ade Jimoh Derrick Frost Kenny Wright Warrick Holdman Jeff Posey Tyson Walter Mike Pucillo Vernon Fox Todd Wade Todd Yoder Jim Molinaro Ryan Boschetti id like to keep bolded. it comes down to either betts or duckett, and i think duckett fits better with us. he would be a better change of pace for portis. betts is also 2 years older

The only absolute keeper on that list to me is Big Red. And Ade of course. Ade is a given.

Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
I agree there. I want us to draft some better OL talent in the lower rounds of the draft this year.

Mathematically we're still alive. That's all I can say.
Until the defense figures itself out and we replace Brunell, it's going to be a long season.

The Redskins should be using their remaining seven games to gather important information about the players they have on hand, and to ascertain their needs in the offseason.

Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
Seasons done, not just because of where we are (3-6) but also becuase of how we got here.
It hasn't been pretty, and theres no reason to believe they'll be a comeback. Everything sucks across the board... Now, where it goes toward draft philosophy may get interesting... I know alot of people dislike the current position we've taken towards the draft. I think with a monster coaching staff, It probably plays more towards our strengths if you build through the draft... The draft picks are probably better suited to be "coached" up. More open minded, if you will. Why not bend the wallet in the coaching department still, but look at the draft as a way to build the team. Mabye I'm just stating the obvious... but to me it seems like the status quo isn't working, and we need some new direction.

Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
only three or possibly four (todd wade) will get offers above vet min. all but TJ should be back, unless someone gives betts a chester taylor-like contract, or we sign roster upgrades at vet min to replace them.
the nice thing is we haven't have a FA to worry about the last two years... the bad news is we're not very good (and the last worthwhile FA went and became a pillar of the giants defense cause gibbs an co. wanted to save a total of what? 1mill over a 6 year deal?... oops!). |

Yep, and no one in the league seems as perpetually miffed about it. Ensuring that whenever he sees the Redskins on the schedule, he will make them pay for it for the rest of his career. |

I thought Ethan Albright had resigned a while back.

Albright, and Dockery are pretty much only guarantees. Boschetti is probably gone, Mlinaro may stay. Jimoh is solid special teamer. other than those guys, I think everyone else is gone. No way Frost should stay. He is too inconsistant and really not all that good. i doubt we will be able to resign betts, teams will be looking to him as a possible starter (JETS) No way Duckett even gets into contract talk with us, all though he has been all class since coming here. Kenny wright is probably gone. I think we will go after a corner and move springs or rogers to nickel. Posey gone for sure. I hope they keep Dockery. He is big, strong, great run blocker. he has progressed each year which is what you want to see from young lineman. I think keeping this line together for the next couple of years is key to the team competing in the playoffs. |
