Unfortunate perspective-We AREN'T who we thought we were.

Jets, Bills, Browns, Texans, Packers, Saints, 49ers.. In August if anyone said that after 9 games we'd have the same or worse records as these teams they'd be called crazy. Is it possible that we're just not good or will a few key changes (QB, MLB, DE, SS) make a significant difference?

Re: Unfortunate perspective-We AREN'T who we thought we were.

The scariest thing of all - I've got no idea how to fix this mess.

A new QB (Campbell) might inject some downfield passing. But how to fix the D??

I think chemistry is a mess right now. That will happen when you bring in guys like Andre Carter who sucks, relegating emotional leader Renaldo Wynn to the bench. And when you bring in TJ Duckett and get your RBs all upset. And then when Duckett doesn't play, he gets pissed. And when you let Ryan Clark, a guy Sean Taylor got along with and trusted, leave for free agency and bring in Adam Archuleta who SUCKS and pay him more than Sean Taylor (not to mention every other safety in the league). I think the players are irked at some of these moves. I know I'd be, it's human nature.

But chemistry is only part of the problem. It will be a miracle if we make the playoffs next year, IMO. Someone's going to have to do some amazing teambuilding to get this team all on the same page by next season.

Where the F was Rocky yesterday when the Eagles were marching down the field on us in garbage time?

Re: Unfortunate perspective-We AREN'T who we thought we were.

hmmmm Herrington, Losman, Frye, Carr, Favre, Brees, Smith are the team leaders/QB's through spring/tc/sc/preseason.

We are who we think we are. Once we get that down the sky is the limit.

We got lazy thinking that our FA pickups will magically just win us games. Carter has been mediocre at best, Archuleta sucks, Lloyd needs sticky gloves....El has been great

We are who we think we are.

I saw a different defense personally. GW isn't doing the same blitzes as he did last year. Until Brunell gave the Eagles that gift, the defense was stepping it up against the best offense in the league. That play to Stollworth was basically it.

Mediocre is far too complimentary for Carter, he's been as big of a bust as AA but his garbageosity (ok, so I made that up) is just as bad. He is making absolutely ZERO impact on the defense. He doesn't pressure the passer, doesn't make big plays in the run game, doesn't tip passes. What does he do that Wynn/Daniels weren't doing last year?

TMC you're usually such a solid observer of the game, but I got to ask you here, WTF are you talking about??

Westbrook ran for 113 yards on 22 carries (5.1 per carry). I don't care if a lot of it was in garbage time when the Birds were trying to kill the clock. If you're a good defense that plays with pride, you man up and you stop him, no matter what the score is. We got run on like nobody's business.

The 'Skins did hold McNabb to a low completion percentage. He was 12 for 26. And yes, that play to Stallworth was basically the extent of the passing game for the Eagles. But as has been stated around here by Matty before, you can't just take plays out of the equation. The big play is the biggest reason why our defense sucks. You can't give up the big play and be like oh well we stopped them the rest of the time. You still lose that way.

It's like saying, other than all the points we gave up we played pretty good!

That's without a doubt. But still, that's like us saying Brunell played great when he passes for two touchdowns when we're down by 30+. Not to give more credit than it's due, but in general the defense played "better". I'm missing the blitzes like last year because it seemed that when we dialup a blitz or two, we ACTUALLY created pressure, rather than giving McNabb a good 10 minutes to sit there and throw.

Re: Unfortunate perspective-We AREN'T who we thought we were.

On a side note, I said it in another thread. What was the problem with playing Rocky towards the end? Is it just not good enough to get some time in GARBAGE time?!

I'd agree with the blitzing issue. Priority one in the offseason has to be getting Gregg Williams whatever he needs in order to be comfortable with blitzing a lot more often.

For whatever reason, he's afraid of doing it this year. Is it the CBs? Is it the safety play? Or is he holding out hope that Daniels and Carter can do it on their own without a blitz?

Besides the two quick strike plays, the defense did do a very good job when the Eagles got into our territory. However, besides not giving up the big play, the tackling IMO is horrible. I believe that is out of frustration though. You're finding players trying to hit more than to wrap up the ball carrier.
