views from the game

normally things look alittle different when you are at the game as opposed to watching on t.v.
1. our offensive line had brunell running for his life
2. we have absolutely NO plan on offense, its almost like the entire game is scripted. whatever is written in that script, is used. regardless of it is working, or not
3. our defensive line played ok, considering the second half they were on the field the entire second half
3. our back seven, other than shawn springs and marcus washington, were god awful yesterday( it didnt seem like A.A. was hardly on the field at all)
4. brunell wasnt the entire reason, but he was way off the mark with the majority of his passes.
5. why didnt duckett play more? the one or two times he carried, he hit the hole hard, and with authority
6. no matter what the down and distance was, carlos rogers was 10 yards off the receiver
7. i am not usually on this because i think ball control wins in this league, but the eagles had EVERYONE at the line of scrimmage on more than one occasion. why NO downfield passing? especially on first down
8. and lastly, there seemed to be absolutely NO halftime adjustments. this used to be a coach gibbs staplemark of the glory years. if their were offensive problems, you knew at halftime that would be all cleaned up at halftime, because this is coach gibbs forte. now after the half, the skins come out and keep on doing the same old thing they were doing in the first half, regardless of it working or not

I alway's like to here an opinion from someone who was actually at the game, you just can't see the whole field and form a concrete idea on whats wrong from TV [depending].

Re: views from the game

Marcus Washington had one tackle. He's not a glaring problem the way AA, Andre Carter or even Sean Taylor has been, but he certainly hasn't been the playmaker he once was.

But then, no one on defense resembles their former selves of '04 and '05.

As bad as Brunell was, in fairness, there was at least one Eagle that was in his face on just about every play. Rarely did the line effectively pick up any blitz.

Re: views from the game

I can handle most anything from Skins. What has me freaksed the most is the now "habitual" look of disarray. Penalties, poor play, play calling, inability to plud the SAME holes week after week. We have a COACHING problem. Since Joe2 gets the glory in the good times, he in turn he gets the flak when going down in flames. He's gonna' have to get control of his coaching staff.

WE............don't really do ..............anything good

Re: views from the game

and, i forgot to ask, was that a fumble down near the goal line? not that it mattered, but on the replay board, it sure looked like a fumble.
and to add to my rant about the game, what the hell was coach gibbs doing? the skins were driving at the beginning of the second half, right around the eagles 40 yard line. third down and 4, the eagles take a time out. the skins come out and run betts, for a small gain. now the skins call time out, to talk about a field goal, or going for it. why wasnt this discussed during the eagles timeout? i thought that once they ran the ball, they would automatically be going for it. why wasted that time out?

Defenses know to blitz the hell out of the Skins, because Brunell don't move too good. When 5 guys are constantly blocking 6, 7 and 8 people, it makes it hard.

it's not that there isn't a plan, it's that Brunell is getting rushed so quickly, that his only throw is a dumpoff.

can't disagree here. they played fairly well, putting pressure on McNabb, making him scramble out of the pocket.

3b. our back seven, other than shawn springs and marcus washington, were god awful yesterday( it didnt seem like A.A. was hardly on the field at all)
Taylor is constantly getting burned on coverage, biting on the smallest of fakes. Rogers is playing too far off, trying to make the big hit and strip. The LBs are doing ok, but with a QB like McNabb, there should have been a shadow on those plays where he scrambles. AA wasn't on the field but for a few special teams plays, as Troy Vincent is playing for him now, and will continue to do so for the forseeable future.

4. brunell wasnt the entire reason, but he was way off the mark with the majority of his passes.
He had no time to throw, so he was throwing off his back foot and barely swinging his head around to see where he was throwing.

Quote:
5. why didnt duckett play more? the one or two times he carried, he hit the hole hard, and with authority
he had 2 guys on the depth chart in front of him. Betts has played well enough to start with Portis out, but you'll see a lot more of 36 for the rest of the season. This is where that draft pick will pay off....getting depth.

Quote:
6. no matter what the down and distance was, carlos rogers was 10 yards off the receiver
It's because he's thinking more with his ego than his head. He feels he can close in and make a big hit, whereas he needs to press more, so that the receiver doesn't get a chance to catch and look up field.

I'm guessing you're talking about the lack of Skins downfield. See answer to #4. No time to throw means no going downfield.

I think Gibbs is relying way too much on Saunders and Williams to make necessary adjustments. He was a master at this, and needs to talk to his 2 coaches to ensure that things are being changed.

oh, and yes it was a fumble...problem was it was really only visable in slow mo. The Refs do not get the replays in slow-mo, but at full speed, where I can see it hard to determine whether it was a fumble or not.
