I'm sure that he has not. The Post is pretty good at reporting such news and given the football news drought, I am positive they would have written up a story if he had made a choice.

I haven't heard anything. He is going to be a holdout.

From the Washington Post, June 17th (it's on the Newswire: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Jun16.html )
Quote: "Safety Sean Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the draft, has yet to notify the NFL Players Association who his agent will be. Contract negotiations with Washington likely will not begin until mid-July. . . . " We'll see...

I thought he had alright signed with Mato, I guess not though... I just hope he gets an agent soon and doesnt hold out to camp.
Hey Joecrisp, can I player go to training camp without a contract? As in, he doesnt want to hold out but forwhatever reason hasnt reached a deal yet. Because that goes a long way to show you want to be with the team, to actually be practicing and letting your agent work out the money part.

I think Sean really wants to be here, and I doubt he'll be a holdout. Snyder has shown in the past that he's willing to pay big signing bonuses. I expect to see him in camp on time.

I believe no player can participate in training camp without a contract.

Obviously, it wouldn't make much sense for a player to expose himself to a potentially career-ending injury if he doesn't have a contract or at least some kind of arrangement regarding an injury settlement. Even if there isn't a rule that players must have a contract to participate in training camp, most player agents would never let their clients take such a risk.
I've been sifting through the CBA trying to find some indication of such a rule, but it's tough to find anything amidst all that legal jargon. |
