Sun-Times - Redskins, Eagles not in mood for weird finish

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Football :: Redskins, Eagles not in mood for weird finish

PHILADELPHIA -- The Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles are quite familiar with improbable wins and losses.

Last week, the Redskins temporarily saved their season with a 22-19 victory over Dallas in one of the wildest finishes in recent history. Nick Novak missed a 49-yard field goal with 31 seconds left, but got a chance to kick a 47-yarder to win it after time expired following a blocked field goal by Troy Vincent.
Three weeks ago, the Eagles rallied from a 17-0 deficit to take a one-point lead over Tampa Bay on Brian Westbrook's 52-yard catch-and-run touchdown with 33 seconds left, only to lose when Matt Bryant made a 62-yard field goal as time ran out.
Neither team can afford any type of loss today at Lincoln Financial Field. The Redskins (3-5) need to keep winning to have any shot at making a playoff run. The Eagles (4-4) are desperate to snap a three-game losing streak that dropped them from first place in the NFC East into a five-way tie for sixth in the conference. ''You have to come out with the mind-set that there's nothing else after this weekend,'' Philly quarterback Donovan McNabb said. ''You have to prepare yourself like there's no tomorrow. We need this win, and we have to go out with an attitude to go out and take it.''
