This week against Philly

Last week was a nice win. Deceptive but a win is a win. Let's face it. We stole one. However Philly is coming off a bye and they are pist because of some tough losses. This is a MUST win game and it's on the road. I think this game a crossroads game. However let's be real. Can our 30th ranked defense hold up against McNabb and Westbrook? Can Brunell carry the offense against a blitz heavy Eagles defense? Can the O-line protect Brunell well enough? Can we run the ball well enough so Brunell won't have to pass too much?

I believe the answer to all of these questions is NO and reality will set in after this week.

We stole NOTHING. Please read the discussions about the win. There was nothing we "stole" from them. There were plays that should have been made on both sides. Goddamn. This is pissing me off everyone thinking we "stole" ANYTHING.

Re: This week against Philly

The only thing that SHOULD be hard on us is the fact we are playing them away. Westbrook isn't shit unless he's catching a pass. The Cowboys receivers were FAR superior than the ones the Eagles have. We force McNabb to pass we have a great shot at this game. Remember that nearly 200 yards of the Cowboys offense came on third down.

We tighten that up, stick with a similar gameplan and we're golden.

Re: This week against Philly

Well, we know we will prob score around 20 points...will that be enough? is donte going to be healthy? if so, that is a problem- not so much due to him (springs can handle him), but that means reggie brown will be against rogers- who again gave up a TD (should have been 2), too much cushion. reggie will have a good day against him. besides that, we have always had trouble containing Donovan and westbrook (who doesn't?).

On our side, we need portis and brunell to step up their games from last week, they both played well enough, but we will need decidedly more if we expect to win. The eagles secondary should have fits against our recievers...

i dunno, i think its pretty fair to say we stole it. leave alone the final two plays (which you really can't- bc without them, we lose)... TO drops a sure TD. that said, i'm not taking anything away, WE WON, and that is ALL THAT MATTERS.

Our 3rd down 'D' will be the key to the game. We just can't continue to give up 3rd and longs. We need to get key stops to keep McNabb off the field as much as possible.

Re: This week against Philly

I'm just going to keep copying and pasting what I said in the other threads on the subject of us stealing this game:

"That holding call gets called on Witten, they may not have gotten the TD. If Cooley hauls in that deep pass, maybe we go up by another TD. Say Fauria doesn't get called for that BS holding penalty, Lloyd gets us deep into their territory, maybe ANOTHER TD. MAYBE we punch it in on the one yard line."

I'm with you on this. End of the day all that matters is scoreboard. If you want to say we "stole" what about all the games that have been "stolen" from us over the years <<cough...Alstott...cough>> or what about all the games around the league that are "stolen" week in and week out.

Now, as for the Eagles. They are terrible at time of possession because they have no power running game to control the clock (hello TJ Duckett!) so in the second half their defense is worn out and gets abused. So I think we have to have long "boring" drives and keep that defense on the field as much as possible then hit them with a couple of big plays (El to Lloyd pass?) to open up the second half.

This is a very winnable game. Very winnable

On that subject at least we won it with TALENT and not some bullshit non-call. We won it BLOCKING a kick. It wasn't like the refs made some asshole call that went against the Cowboys.

So true. Every time a 3rd and long comes up I get tense because I just know they are going deep and they'll beat our secondary....

Re: This week against Philly

not gonna beat a dead horse, we won...we are all HAPPY!

I would agree this is very winnable...and with the need to firm up 3rd down D. in the past, we've struggled with defending mcnabb (when he tucks and runs) and westbrook (screens). though this year, with our lack of blitzing, perhaps we match up better. i mean the 7.5 spread is kind of a big deal- though i'd be a buyer of washington.

Re: This week against Philly

We're all happy, but its safe to say we "stole" that game. Games have been stolen from us for years. Yes, we made the play when we had to, but Dallas shot themselves in the foot. Even the players know that. It almost feels better to steal one from them like that.

This game is winnable. We need some TO's & a better effort running the ball. Nothing new.

Do you think that this team can keep winning games the way that they beat Dallas? Passing for basically 150 yards? Giving up 385 yards on defense? Horrible on 3rd down defense. Horrible goal line offense.
