Angry Joe Gibbs becoming like Mary Schottemhiemer

I hate to say it, but Joe is becoming to concervative. In his first go around he was a risk taker. Now he plays not loose. I could not believe it when they did not go for it on forth down, I watched them pass on third and one and said to myself, I guess Joe figured that he was in four down territory and was going to run on forth down. I was shocked when they kicked a field goal. This showed no confidence in our offense and at 16 to 3made no real sense. If they had scored a touch down the momentum would have been completely turned around. We need to play to win. Come on Joe, remember those fake punts, remember those forth and ones(John Riggins, superbowl). Joe was an offensive powerhouse the first time around.

I'm not going to comment on the topic, as I know it is going to bring an onslaught of harsh posts. Be prepared my friend.

At the time, I wanted to see them go for it.

But as a coach you have to consider a few things.

1) Can you kicker make that

A: Yes, the fact that he missed is awful, but hindsight is always 20-20. Hall is a very good kicker and I would think of that as an automatic 3. Scoring some points may have given the redskins some much needed momentum, and could have potentially changed the game

2) Can you convert the 4 and 1?

A: I'd say it was 50-50. The Giants had been winning the trench fight all game long and they had confidence. Playing in their home stadium with there crowd behind them, It would have been a very very tough yard to gain. CP is more outside of an outside the tackles runner, and outside the tackles is where there strength is.

I'll comment. not toughing out that 4th and 1 in a tough divisional away game when you're behind sent a direct message to the offense that they weren't believed in. and they played accordingly after that.

huge missed opportunity. and i think Gibbs's first real apparent mistake this season. regardless if the FG was made or not.

Hey, I did not care if we made the field goal or not. It seemed to me that the three points were not going to help us. That is my point. It was not like we were behind by ten or for that matter 17. We did not need a field goal at the time.

I'm sorry chris but I would hate to have you as a coach. At the time Hall missed that FG there was still 1:14 left in the 3rd quarter. It was only a 42 yarder and would have brought us within 10. TAKE THE POINTS every time when you are in that situation. If Hall makes that we only need a TD and another FG to tie. If you go for it and dont get it then you would still need 2 TDs to win, not to mention you now have nothing to show fora very productive drive. You cant honestly say it was a bad coaching desicion, can you?

Re: Joe Gibbs becoming like Mary Schottemhiemer

Its not bad coaching, I just think it was to conservative. I think he has gotten more conservative that he was in the past. I do not think we were out coached, by any means. I just did not like that particular decision. I think that our secondary is in real trouble, talent wise. We need Springs back, just to be average. We also need better linebacking.
