portis really makes our offense click
I know that Brunnel and the OL played well as well as the D
but what really makes redskins a A team into a D team is portis |

Re: portis really makes our offense click
Agreed. Portis is the MVP on our offense. Brunell and Moss are not far behind, but CP makes it click and keeps opposing Ds honest.

Re: portis really makes our offense click
too true. every play seems like a possible TD with him in there, and i think the team feels that and plays better knowing it. I know Brunell feels better with him in there just as a pass protector.
it's worrying though, because we can't continue to be a one man team. last season was built on Cooley and Moss as well, and now we have Randle El. the talent here is scary, and Portis is the backbone.

Re: portis really makes our offense click
They also posted some stats on the telecast showing Gibbs' winning percentage when the O rushes the ball more than 20 to 25 times per game...something like 162-29. Sick numbers. Portis is the engine as he loosens up the D for Ladell and Rock (fumbalya) Cartright AND the passing game.

Re: portis really makes our offense click
Portis definitely makes our offense click, then Betts takes over from there. Who said we could live without Ladell Betts?

Re: portis really makes our offense click
i still think we could live w/o Betts (especially if we could trade him for a decent corner). Duckett made a good name for himself backing up another slashback.

Re: portis really makes our offense click
After yesterday, Gibbs is 119-19 when his team rushes more than 30+ times. Amazing stat! You'll probably find the same correlation between most coaches that rush more than 30+ times in a game, though. Running means ball control, which means you're securing the lead.
