Re: Portis Out

Duckett was definitely good insurance for us. Gibbs bases a strong offense on a strong running game, and even though I feel we're okay with Betts, having Duckett in there as well should hopefully get us through the season opener at least.

It's certainly "possible", but all reports (most importantly, CPs own statements), make this a bit of wishful thinking.

Nothing new here. We've known this for three days now. He'll be back against Dallas.

Re: Portis Out

If it was up to me. I would bring Portis back till Week 5. You don't want to rush him back and have it linger all year. Furthermore, you want to be playing your best in November and December, not September.

He essentially ruled himself out for the opener Sept. 11 against the Minnesota Vikings. He wore a helmet and his No. 26 jersey during the entire practice Sept. 8 for the first time since partially dislocating his left shoulder four weeks ago, but said he was focusing on the upcoming games against Dallas and Houston.

"The way things look, bro, you'll probably be seeing 2-6 against Dallas," Portis said. "But who knows? If not, I should be ready for Houston. They want me to be 100 percent."

Based on this is why I said he Might not be ready

Re: Portis Out

And yeah I agree with Skins maybe not with the 5 weeks but with the 100% you don't want him to come to early and risk have a more serious or just linger the injury for a more extended period

Which confirms my point, that you are engaging in wishful thinking.

The following is a prayer being uttered by many in the Dallas area this week:
Dear Jesus, as the Cowboys season is on us, I am asking for you to show some mercy. Okay, I know that our team is owned by the Prince of Darkness himself, but don't you think that handing us that locker room cancer, T.O. is punishment enough? And for crying out loud, that thing you did to us with Vanderjagt -- a bit over the top don't you think? It's not like we're a bunch of Sodimites (that thing with Aikmen -- that was a long time ago and he was just confused and experimenting). We are in great fear and trembling of what the Redskins are going to do to us this year.

We got the message last year in the first game we played them that you are mightily displeased with us. Sure, their coach is on much better terms with you than our fat tub of lard, but I am begging for your mercy.

I promise, that if you will smite down Clinton Portis for our first game this year, that I will not touch any barnyard animals in an unnatural way during the regular season. I can't promise to stop thinking about it, but I can probably not do it for the regular season.

I'm not worried about anything beyond that because in spite of my unrealistic hopes and faith, I know there is no chance in hell that the Cowboys will be in the playoffs.

Amen

Hmmm let's see Riggo the last four meetings against Portis since he join your team

2004 1st 23 att 94 yards 0td
2004 2nd 10 att 32 yards 0td
2005 1st 17 att 52 yards 0td
2005 2nd 23 att 112 yards 0td

Total 73 att 289 yards 72.25 yards avrg 0td

Yeah Riggo we're really SCARED to face Portis come on man get real I think we have done a great job in the past containing him.

Portis is a GREAT player that I love to watch and it's clear that you're better with him in the field than without, but speak with facts you're the 1 engaging wishful thinking

The fact is I want your team 100% present next week because if he doesn't play I know 2 thinks will happen IF Dallas wins you'll all say that we beat you because Portis didn't play but IF your team wins you'll all laugh and say that you don't even need Portis to beat us.

I love to see a great game especially against our biggest rival and in a year with so much expectation on both teams with so much in question but what I don't like is excuses in either side.

Re: Portis Out

i am gonna have to agree with dmek...the jags are alot better than people give them credit for. I think the boys have their hands full today. On the defensive side of the ball the jags front 4 are as good as anybodies front 4 in the nfl. Not to mention its going to be hot and the jags are wearing the whites with cowboys wearing the darks. I hope I can see some of that game today. I am anxious to see what cowboy team shows up. Acutally the only thing i want to see in that game is terrell owens...will he take his prozac today or will he be the flaming idiot we have all come to know.
