Hamden Update
I had a chance to see Gibran play again, and I have to say every time I see him he impresses, he's acurate, and very smooth, even under pressure, but I think the most impressive part of his game that really stand's out, is his poise, he just look's like he know's exactly what he's going to do out there, it's only a matter of snapping the ball, he split's time with C. Sthoener who is horrible, but I guess that's what they have to do in the europe league, I am officially going to say he will win the 3rd string QB job, hand's down, he fit's everything Gibbs look's for in a QB, on the other hand, hasselbach [ even though he used to live down the road from me ] doesn't, he's to small, and more importantly his arm is to week, which is a must in Gibb's offense.
OK let em rip. |

Couldn't agree more on the Hamdan assesment, it made me nuts when they'd drive down the field, chnage for the end of a qtr and Stoener came on. Leave the GOOD QB on!
He'll be a great back-up to Ramsey in years to come, hopefully the 6th QB that wins a Super Bowl under Gibbs (after Brunell and Ramsey). |

I hope Hamden never wins a super bowl under Gibbs. Assuming Gibbs stays for his five years, and only his five years that would mean Hamdan would be a starter within five years. I hope that Ramsey has a longer career with us than that.

yeah....he's our Rohan Davey. But if he had a great preseason, or another great Euro-ball season, should we trade him? I think the Pats should see what they can get for Davey, because if a team like the Dolphins would've seen this months ago, they may not have traded for Feeley. I have no doubts the Pats could get a second rounder for Davey if they're smart

I'm also impressed by Hamdan every time I watch him play. I think he could be a very valuable assett to the team. Another check in the Spurrier column fellas!

Hamdan may be looking good in NFLE, but has he improved enough to earn the #3 job in '04? I kinda doubt it simply because he's still so green in terms of football experience. I think Hasselbeck will hang on to the #3 spot and Hamdan will ride the practice squad again.

Since neither Hamdan or Hasselbeck would create much of a salary cap ripple with their release, it's very possible that they'll both be gone, and the backup may be someone with Gibbs-like qualities and a little more NFL experience.

I have to agree with Brudlee. Gibbs has picked up veteran Qb's on final cut day in the past. However if Hamden Hasselback continue to play well they could both remain, one on the practice squad.

Here are Hamden's stats this NFLE season:
Hamdan, G (WAS) Att. 49 Comp. 24 Yards 361, 49.0% completion 7.37yds. per pass, 54.9 QB rating Not very good, but you guys are right his confidance is growing as of late, which is big. |

Thank you to Defensewins!!!
This thread started out with claims that Hamden was accurate and sharp and all that stuff. Folks, against NFL Europe defenses, he completed less than 50% of his throws and his QB rating would get him benched in favor of a chimpanzee during an NFL season. Take off the rose colored glasses, folks. Hamden is RAW. He needs lots of schooling. If he was on the practice squad last year - I don't recall - he is only allowed to be on it for one more year and then he is on the roster here or outta town. If Hamden has to play in any game where there is less than a 4 TD lead either way midway through the 4th quarter, the Skins' season is TOAST!! Barring a miracle, that is probably true for the next several years... |

I also wouldnt be surprised to see Giibs take a vet for a third string QB.
As far as Hamdam, his stats dont look impressive, and I havent watched any NFL Europe games but didnt one of you say that they take him out at the end of the QTR. And on many account he'll lead them down the field and then not be in to get the TD. If thats the case mabye his QB rating would be a lot higher, touchdowns play a big part of that. Either way the completion percentage isnt all that hot.

Hamden Update
Hasselbeck showed a better understanding of the game than Ramsey last year. He's not nearly as physically talented, but he's smart as a whip and can move the chains. In other words, he's the perfect emergency qb.
