SI Offseason Grades
SI.com - Writers - Jeffri Chadiha: NFC offseason grades - Wednesday July 26, 2006 12:46PM
WASHINGTON REDSKINS What Went Right: They found more help for the passing game. With tight end Christian Fauria and wide receivers Antwaan Randle El and Brandon Lloyd in the fold, Pro Bowl wideout Santana Moss should find more room to work outside. The hiring of offensive coordinator Al Saunders also should pay big dividends. He guided the Kansas City Chiefs' offense to record-setting numbers and could do the same in Washington. If that wasn't enough good news, the Redskins also learned that free safety Sean Taylor won't end up in jail. What Went Wrong: They overpaid for some of these guys, especially Randle El and strong safety Adam Archuleta. But that's never bothered Dan Snyder before. Grade: A Apparently backloaded contracts that still manage to keep the team under the cap are a bad thing. At least we got the best grade in the division, maybe the NFL will give DannyBoy an extra cookie after dinner.

Re: SI Offseason Grades
I think that that is a pretty fair assessment, one of the first times ive actually heard someone talk about everyone we got and not just randle el in our offseason

Re: SI Offseason Grades
This overpaid crap is really getting tired. If these experts would actually take a second to look at how the contracts are structured, and understand that guys like AA are never going to see most of that money, they might just make sense for once.
Besides, isn't it a little early to proclaim someone is overpaid until they actually play?? We heard people say that Griffin was overpaid, we paid too much for Springs, too much for Moss, etc. Well, how overpaid are those guys now?? |

Re: SI Offseason Grades
I'm suprised that one way or the other he didn't mention LaVar. Most people agree that not having him will make this team a bit different. On a similar note, I feel like he could have added Carter to the positive moves the team made because he should fit well into Williams' system.

I was reading this over on ES and someone stated how they thought it was great for the Eagles to get rid of TO while it was smart for the Cowboys to sign him. Que???

Dont count LA out he will have a rejuvenated career shortly. We all know what type of guy he is from over the years. He's cool as shit off the field as a good guy but, he lost his hunger over the years with no hope being caught up in the turnover rate of staff/players. A couple of months ago he did an interview on NFL Access and you could tell he had been in the gym. This is a guy who doesnt like to lose and refuses to be laughed at. As a man, we are gonna see him focused like when he first started out and got rolling and the Giants will benefit. Sure he missed assignments- its a difficult system even STaylor missed them but we still love him. In Lavar we had the expectations of him to have the longevity and consistant career like LTaylor so he became a victim of circumstance. Its clear he cant work in our system and we will benefit from that now. |

If the Redskins overpay for talent and win the division, and the Eagles underpay (or undervalue) talent and come in last, why is it that the Eagles get praised?

Re: SI Offseason Grades
seriously and with the new collective agreement, why not lock up your best players and over pay for a few good more, i also feel that lavar just doesnt have the killer instinct thats goes along with being a linebacker, he just to laid back and passive.
