Harold Reynolds axed!
Gone at ESPN
Considering he was one of the best baseball commentators around, this is surprising... ESPN is being mum, so something strange must have happened. TAFKAS is the only person on here who probably knows what's up right now! Is ESPN going to comment further soon, or are they trying to keep it under wraps forever? |

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
That's messed up. He was the best guy on the show. What gives?

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
I'm not involved with baseball or studio production (only when it pertains to motor sports), so I really don't have much info. I can ask around though.
Harold Reynolds is one of my favorite athletes of all time. If for no other reason than one day at Camden Yards while he was playing for the Orioles, he was the only player that signed an autograph for each and every person waiting in the lot after the game. We're talking a good 30-45 minutes of signing autographs. And he wasn't surly about it. He smiled and chatted with everyone the whole way. Great great guy

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
that's really weird cuz he seemed like one of the few genuinely nice guys and was one of the staple of multiple baseball related projects for ESPN. and for it too be so sudden as well is what makes it so weird.

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
Deadspin is reporting that they have received multiple e-mails claiming to be insiders. According to every one of them except one(like 20-1) it has to do with sexual harrassment.

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
The man knew his shit and with a wife that looks like this I would be surprised if he got fired for sexual harassment. I mean, you'd have to be really stupid to repeatatly harass female co-workers and get fired.

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
My buddy in ESPN's production area doesn't know or isn't talking.
I've heard two rumors on the web... the sexual harassment thing and the one where he argued with producers about the way the ARod story was being manipulated. |

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
That is too bad. When he first came on I thought he was so bad that he never would make it to the next year. Now he is (was) one of the top analyst at ESPN. He probably pissed off an executive and that person found just enough credible evidence of sexual harassment to can him.
The bad thing is where can he go? ESPN pretty much has the national baseball broadcasting market cornered unlike football and basketball.

Re: Harold Reynolds axed!
definitely one of the better personalities on ESPN/ABC Sports. such a shame that it's come down to this, and with no one talking, the rumors will really blow up.

ACCUSED OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT By ANDREW MARCHAND - New York Post Online Edition: Sports
He just gave her a hug. I guess he should have at least had his pants on at the time. Also, how about Tirico with the harassment problems in the past. Now that I have that knowledge I feel like it's going to be weird watching games that he announces.
