NFC will win superbowl
Looking at the draft and free agency moves this year, the power has shifted to the NFC. More nfc teams are looking to be contenders than ever. panthers, giants, skins, i expect the falcons, vikings, bucs, cowboys, maybe even the bears to be pushing hard for playoff spots. But in the end I really think the giants are the team to worry about b/c they seem to be par with the skins for the division, which sucks. What do you guys think?

Re: NFC will win superbowl
I do think that the giants are our biggest contender for the division title, but you honestly think that the vikings will be pushing for a playoff spot over the bears? you do remember that the bears were the #2 seed last year in the playoffs? You make it sound as if last year was a fluke for the bears. I think that the bears will be hard to beat, esp. now that they have a decent QB in Greise(SP)...

Re: NFC will win superbowl
The bears had and have a joke of a schedule. I don't think the bears are ALL that and a bag of potato chips but they are definately a playoff team. I would rank them, errr, 6th in the conference. The NFL is weak. I said this in another thread. It just doesn't feel like any team is crazy good. The Colts will be weaker this year. I think Arizona will be stronger. The bengals will be good. Steelers again though their offseason has been pretty goofy. Carolina will make another good fight. I expect the seahawks to fall like every other super bowl loser does. This division is the light in the NFL.

Re: NFC will win superbowl
Seattle won't roll like last year but they don't have to play NFC east do they? So we might see SEA in the 1st rounder!?!??!

Playoffs
Chicago- Joke schedule. Skins Seahawks- they will lose three to the AFC west. Carolina Giants Cowboys Top 6 Skins-Skins rule. Giants-Tie with skins skins got better division record Car-Wins division Dallas-Tie breaker with Tampa to make it in Tampa they will be served atleast 3 losses from our division+2 from their own. Eagles-Don't make the playoffs. Too bad so sad. |

Re: NFC will win superbowl
Though I certainly hope the winner comes from the NFC (specifically, us), I think the biggest mover in free agency and the surprise AFC contender may be from the AFC North - Cleveland. They made some big strides in FA, signing Willie McGinest, LeCharles Bentley, and Joe Jurevicius, among others. They'll also see the return of noted haed case Kellen Winslow II from injury, and had a good draft defensively - signing Kamerion Wimbley and D'qwell Jackson.
Whether they'll slingshot past Cincinnati and Pittsburgh - who both have QB health issues - is yet to be determined. But I'd keep an eye on them.

Re: NFC will win superbowl
I don't think anything has shifted until the actual games begin and we see who the best teams are. Last year the AFC was clearly the stronger conference, we'll see about this year.

Re: NFC will win superbowl
I am a skins fan in ND but I do have some friends who are Viking fans and looking at their schedule they should win 11-12 games this year. That being said I think they win their division over the bears.

I'd say that the closest thing to a guarantee I can make is that the Vikings won't see the sunny side of .500 ball. A new coach with a new system, an aging QB, no dominant RBs or WRs - these are not the ingredients for a championship. The only belssing they have is they are playing in the weakest division in football - and with the NFC West still out there, that's saying something.

Agreed. The Vikings will be lucky to get over .500 this year for all the reasons you've stated. The Bears rule this division, the Vikes could be looking at a top 5 draft pick next year. |

Re: NFC will win superbowl
I think the original statement was that the NFC is better now than the AFC (hence, "The NFC will win the Super Bowl.")
Is anyone forgetting about a few AFC teams who have won a game or two recently? The Colts, Steelers and Bengals are rock solid teams, Miami was going on a rampage the last half of last season, you can never count out the Patriots and from a simple talent standpoint you can't count out the Chargers, Chiefs and Broncos. The NFC has some great defenses and some great wide receivers, but the AFC seems stacked with QBs and RBs. I'm not making an argument one way or another really, just saying it seems a bit silly to just say the AFC is faltering or not competition anymore.

Re: NFC will win superbowl
Oh, and last season 6 of the top 10 teams in total offense were AFC teams, and 5 of the top 7 were AFC teams.
The AFC isn't about to roll over and die.
