Re: Worst reffing ever.

ok so this was my post--

Ok so first off, I am not getting that other thread which was about the WC in general. Just watched the US game, couple things i noticed.
-US played very well, much better than the last game, and Arena's changes
proved to be effective. Also no one can give him crap for calling out his own players, bc the ones he called out played well.
-US dominated the first half of the game, and parts of the second.
-Our only hope is that we win versus Ghana, and the Czechs beat Italy.
-The Italian team looked good, but why sub Toni, and Totti?? I kinda understand Totti, bc they need a faster player on the field, but not Toni.
-Ok now about the red cards...whew, i need a deep breath before I keep on going. The first red agaisnt Italy was a good call. McBride was blood, it was a cheap shot to the face. But the cards agaisnt the US?!?! wtf was that shit(I will curse, so if u have a problem stop reading my damn post). It was totally to even out the game, it was a terrible call, and it was a straight challenge, that should have gotten a yellow card, if even. Btw the insane amounts of cards per game is ridiculous, its ruinin the Fin game, soccer is a physical and dangerous sport, and now this is making it pussy, and its pissing me off. F FIFA, they can suck it for all I care, I am so pissed off at them for this crap. Back to the game, the ref was trying to even shit out, and he was doing a terrible job, i mean come on right b4 half time on a challenge that most refs would just give a free kick?! What really pisses me off was the how he kept on callin crap, whenever people would flop he called it, which is a terrible job. The double yellow on Pope was just as;lhkta;oihjsga, i cant put my anger into words. It was a clean challenge, and the stupid ref knew he had a yellow b4, refs are not quick to give reds, its the last resort, first u give a couple warnings and then a yellow, and after the yellow, you warn again, I hope he gets fired and FIFA makes some serious changes bc this is bullshit, and its destroying the game. A part of me feels those calls were partial, bc we are the US and hated internationally, esp in soccer. But u could tell after those two reds, he settled down bc he knew he made a mess. The linesmen did a terrible job on the offsides calls as well, and that hurt Italy in perticular.
-The cards piss me off even more, bc the US was kicking ass, and I had no doubt in my mind they would come away with it 2-1, but as soon as those cards came out, it killed the team, esp the second one for us. Our guys got tired as shit trying to cover the whole playing field with 8 guys, and at the end, we got really lucky and Keller stepped it up.
-Im still not very impressed with our Defense or our conter-attack play. Keller stepped it up, so our D got lucky, but it def looked better than last game.
-As for next game, we all saw today, Ghana is quite good, and i really like their team, I think its good that an African nation is finally doing good, and its not just western domination. It is gonna be really hard, maybe as hard as the italian game, bc they are good, and we are gonna be missin two players.
-It took me a while, but I am finally getting into this world cup, and i felt the passion watching the game, similar to the passion i feel watching skins games haha...so its good
-i really suggest more people watch soccer and educate yourself about the world's most popular game. It is really a hard tough game, that requires alot of skills.
-I am very pissed at my fellow americans who are very ignorant, and do not follow the cup. You must realize, the entire world sits down and watchs. In the other nations, people skip work, and watch every game like its the super bowl. in mexico they freakin postponed the elections. Its a great game bc it brings the world together like the olympics, stops wars, blah blah, like the commerical said. We get alot of shit as the kickass nation of world, but in soccer some of it, is due to our ignorance, if people were more educated about the game, its meanings, our teams, and world soccer, alot of that would go away

The one change that Arena didn't make upsets me. Eddie Johnson was the only player to show any life during the Czech match. Arena rewarded that effort by sitting Eddie for the entire match against Italy. Beasley, one of the players that were called out, was a late substitute and showed absolutely nothing... again.

I disagree with you about beasley, he def provided a spark, and he had that nice goal that was not counted bc of McBride. He was running around in the end, and he played much better. I was pissed however, that Arena did not make a later sub with Johnson, but I have a feeling he will play next game, bc of the red cards.

Except for the recalled goal... every time I saw Beasley without the ball he was walking.

for those last 15 mins he played better than the majority of the players on our side. regardless if it was called back, it brought some life into the crowd and our team

Re: Worst reffing ever.

I agree the US showed way more passion, and the reffing was as bad as I've seen. That was a gutty effort to get a point against a tough Italian side--thank god they took off Totti! The Italians made poor subs, and were caught at the end with an injured player and no subs left. I was surprised not to see Eddie Johnson as well, given how everyone was dragging at the end there. But whatever. We got the point we needed, and given the Ghana win, we're in decent shape. First, of course, we have to beat Ghana, which won't be easy, but is still the team the US probably matches up best with in the group (and if we can't be Ghana, we don't deserve anything). Second, Italy DOES NOT want to finish 2nd and have to play Brazil in the next game. So they are going to be gunning for the Czechs. And they match up well with them, unlike us.

As for the D, it was way better today. I think we've had touble replacing Gibbs and Hayduk--both potential starters who got hurt. I have NEVER been a Churundolo fan, and Eddie Lewis was a bad move by Arean, IMO. Bocanegra plays in England and knows how to handle top-quality players, so I was very glad to see him in there. The loss of both Pope and Masterioni next game will shake things up. Who replaces them? Conrad, I guess. Maybe Allbright? Lewis again? We need a stopper in the defensive midfield!

USA USA USA!

Re: Worst reffing ever.

My friend had it on at his house, not the biggest soccer fan on earth and I was pretty bored with the game....but I agree, Daseal...that officaiting was awful! That Red Card 2 min into the second was a joke.

Re: Worst reffing ever.

Agree with you most of the way except:
"-Our only hope is that we win versus Ghana, and the Czechs beat Italy."

We need a win no doubt, but we need Italy to beat the Czechs. Italy has 4 points. If Czechs beat them they have 6 and Italy still has 4. If US wins we will have 4 as well but unless we score a crap load we will lose to Italy on GD. But if Italy wins and US wins then Italy will have 7, US 4, and Czechs 3.

Go Italy!!!!

I think the refs think just like the rest of the international community, they do not want to see US to succeed at what has been known as a rest of the world sport.

I think, You replace Pope with Albright, He is physical and can win some 50/50s. I would replace Pablo with Eddie Johnson. Put Johnson up top and move Landon back in midfield and Reyna back in Pablo's spot. And try to get Ghana on it's heels early like what they did to the Czechs.
