Roster finalization
To make the 53 man roster the skins will have to say goodbye to more than we can keep. But this is my vote on what we should invest in.
26 Offensive players 3 QB-Brunell,campbell,collins Bramlet waits 1 year on practice squad. 3 RB- CP, betts, rock 1 FB- Sellers Id say put Broughton and the other guy on our practice squad/Cooley can always lend a hand if need be. 6 WR- Moss, EL, Lloyd, jacobs, Thrash either we keep Johnson trade Patten for a CB or keep patten and send Johnson to the P.S. 3 TE- Cooley, Fauria Let Johnson or Ortega decide that last spot 10 OL-jansen, samuels, dockery, thomas, rabach, molinaro, ndukwe, albright, pucillo, lefotu. It be nice to have more reserves ready to function. O line is thin should injury occur 25 Defensive players 4 DE- Wynn, daniels, carter, evans 5 DT- griffin, salavea Boschetti, killings, montgomery 4 OLB-Washington, rocky, holdman, clemons Probably bye to Havner 3 MLB- Marshall, Campbell Simon or McCune battle it 6 CB- Springs, Rogers, Wright, Jimoh, Patterson, Morton 3 S- Taylor, Archulleta, Prioleau no Doughty. Hopefully Doughty stays but we can bring him up next year due to constraints at CB he cant fit 2 in K Hall, P Frost What do you guys think? I think this leaves very thin weak areas only should our passing game depend on health and execution our pass D really is our only weaker aspect. But I say keep all these LB's trust in our D-Line b/c it is improving and send the LB's out for special teams there all amazingly quick and sharp. How hyped would that be to explode back to our great era with our recieving core, dominating run, hard hitting D, and Special Teams both ways of the ball like we had B-Mitchell back then ! |

Re: Roster finalization
I agree with most of your post except having 10 o-linemen, I think that at most we will have 8. A back up for each position, T, G, C

Re: Roster finalization
I think that Simon will be a pleasant surprise for us in the middle as a backup. He should been a first round pick prior to injury.

Re: Roster finalization
I think that Jacobs will be gone, and Patten stays. I don't think 10 OL stay on the 53 man roster. A couple of them will more than likely (if they're good enough) be on the practice squad. I think Havner makes it. If not as a LB, then on ST for sure.

Re: Roster finalization
Patten stays, Jacobs goes. It is way to early to tell on this. Injuries during camp (hopefully none) will shake things up as well.
I would not be suprised to see the Skins make one more move in the secondary before all is said and done and the season gets going.

Re: Roster finalization
patten stays he participates in all the things that the skins does and was still involved in the media stuff they had recently, Jacobs may be gone... They should have sent Jacobs to NFL Europe, he could of used the work

Re: Roster finalization
I won't get into whether or not Jacobs or Thrash stays. Patten has a lot more money wrapped up into his deal and he still is a better WR out of the three, therefore he stays. Doughty will make it as a S. Williams will kick Prioleau around for another year as a 'DB'. I wouldn't be surprised if CB Onyenegecha or some other unknown makes te cut. A lot of the other CBs we've had into camp haven't excited coaches to the point where we knew these guy(s) were NFL starting caliber.

Re: Roster finalization
Patten stays. We are quick to let him go when he had an injury plagued 1st year, while Taylor(sucks) Jacobs gets a pass after several terrible years? Patten is now the best 4th receiver in the league.
Thrash is good on special teams only. Otherwise good job on the analysis

Re: Roster finalization
Yeah- 10 OL is pushing it, I was just eager to have solidified dependable backups thats what we dont have returning this year. After listening Patten should stay that is an awesome #3or 4 reciever. Jacobs, well he should go to europe or find another sucker to take him. Baltimore typically is that area, ooops. Good comments people, Training camp and preseason will surely shake up some depth areas. I tell you all our CB's need to get us by till we can manage a 1st round pick and invest in our future some. Deion, Darrell, Champ, and smoot are all guys we miss right about now.

Re: Roster finalization
Yeah I see Jacobs getting the boot. I read about the Wide Receiver they have in camp 6-3, 230. That cat needs to make the roster IMO.

Re: Roster finalization
we keep 9 DL (4 DE, 5 DT), up to 9 LB (for special teams), 9 DB (5 CB, 4 S)
here's who i think make it: Offense (24): 3 QB - Brunell, Campbell, Collins 3 RB - Portis, Betts (ST), Cartwright (ST) 1 FB - Sellers 5 WR - Moss, Lloyd, Randle-El (ST), Patten, Thrash (ST) 3 TE - Cooley, Fauria, Johnson (ST) 3 OT - Samuels, Jansen, Molinaro 4 OG - Thomas, Dockery, Walters, Jones 2 C - Rabach, Pucillo Defense (26): 4 DE - Carter, Daniels, Wynn, Evans 5 DT - Griffin, Salavea, Killings, Montgomery, Golston 8 LB - Washington, Marshall, Clemons, McIntosh, Holdman, Havner (ST), Campbell (ST), Mccune (ST) 5 CB - Springs, Rogers, Wright, Jimoh (ST), Onyenegecha (ST) 4 S - Taylor, Archuleta, Prioleau (ST), Doughty (ST) Special Teams (3): 1 P - Derrick Frost 1 K - John Hall 1 LS - Ethan Albright Practice Squad (8): Lumsden (RB) Broughton (FB) Ortega (TE) Lefotu (OL) Alston (OL) Simon (LB) Patterson (CB) Hawkins (CB) Only non-starters are marked as (ST) Special Teams players. Broughton should probably make the final cut instead of one of the extra OL guys since he's useful on teams, but the OL backups can't be placed on the PS. Manuel Wright (FB) and Kerry Carter (PS RB) end up missing the cut mainly because I don't have a good read on them yet. A WR and DL are also more likely to make the practice squad than two OL guys and 2 CBs, but i didn't see anyone of equal talent to take their spots. - Boschetti (DT) consistantly ended up on the bench at the end of last year, so i doubt he makes it. - Patten will NOT be cut, he too useful to the team compared to the alternatives (ie jimmy farris and taylor jacobs) and we don't need the cap space. |

Re: Roster finalization
Only big question for the roster is WR...more like which one will be cut...personally I liked what I saw from Jimmy Farris last year, certainly alot better then jacobs
