ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that Brett Favre will return to play for the Packers in 2006.

bad move for Farve, the Packers are gonna suck we all know that, I hate to see him end his career the way he has the last couple years, its almost pathetic.

Re: Favre to Return in 2006

Favre has been trying to set the stage to be traded; it hasn't worked so far, but hopefully the Packer management will feel that enough has happened with Favre's reluctance to commit to playing again that Favre can be traded without creating an uproar with the fan base.

Basically right now they haven't traded him because they don't want to be crucified by the fans as trading away the best player in franchise history. It only makes sense to trade him though - they are rebuilding, they have a high draft pick at qb, they need whoever they can get in a trade in terms of younger players, and Favre can still play at a high level and would love to play on a contender. He doesn't seem to be able to be motivated to play on such a poor team at this point in his career.

I think he will get traded before the season.

IMO what made brett favre so fun to watch is that you could tell that he was having a blast PLAYING THE GAME. i hope for his sake that the pack are contenders this year because last year it was hard to watch him cause you could tell he was having no fun.i still think he should have retired at the end of 04

i think farve was looking to get cut, not traded. either way, this was a bad choice. the packers look like they'll stink yet again, they've brought no one in, and their #1 WR may be gone by next week.

Re: Favre to Return in 2006

At long last, our national nightmare is over.

Here's something to think about. With a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator, with a new (albeit very similar) offense, will the hook on Favre come quicker (which is to say "at all") this year?

if he gets traded either he, or the new team will have to learn a new offense... after a billion years in the sasme system, i just don't think he wants to do that for one year.

Honestly, I hope so. If he doesn't play well, why give one player the satisfaction of going down "a legend" and basically screw your team for his agenda.
