Redskins | Archuleta working on his own

David Elfin, of the Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins S Adam Archuleta is working out on his own in Arizona and not attending the team's offseason conditioning program.

that must be the one guy... he overtrains and i think it might be part of the problem with his injuries

Atleast the guy is working out... These guys are professionals and most of them have their own personal trainers in the off-season. I'm not justifying Arch not working out with the team, but these guys do take their off-season workouts very serious.... I mean... look at the guy for Christ sake in a non-fag way.

My guess is the Skins knew this might be the case when they went after him. No doubt they were aware of his legendary workout regimen. I think it would be perfectly reasonable to expect him to continue doing things the way he's always done it.

Wish he was there to jive with his teammates, but I'll still take Archuleta working out in Arizona over Ryan Clark working out at Redskins Park.

Some might try to make this an issue, but I really don't think it is.

I'm sure this was probably discussed between him and the team at some point.

If there's one thing we don't need to worry about, it's this guy being out of shape.

Particularly as a new guy to the team, I feel he should be working out with the Skins. I didn't approve of ST not showing up last year and I don't approve of AA doing the same. I don't care what workout program he has in Arizona, the value of his being with the team exceeds the extra 10 pushups he can do after doing his own thing. First mark against him in my book.

I agree the offseason program is about getting to know your teamates.

Taylor didn't attend last year and he had a great season in spite of it, and the players all seem to like him.

It would be nice to see him developing team chemistry and all that stuff, but whatever. I don't think this has much impact.

An argument could be made that as great as he was, couldn't he have been even better if he had shown up for voluntaries? It's all conjecture, but certainly you wouldn't argue that ST had a great year because he skipped voluntaries. So it's really anyone's guess as to whether or not he was hurt by not being there.

Re: Redskins | Archuleta working on his own

There will be plenty of time for him to develop chemistry in mandatory team functions.

If the team doesn't have a problem with this, which I'm assuming they don't, why should we?

I don't like the fact that he is not with the team, but I have no doubts that he will be in top shape come the first mini camp.

Because I like to bitch about things and it's a slow day at the office.

However, Sean is here this year. There is value if you are Joe Gibbs. He wants to build a family atmosphere at redskin park

I have mixed feelings about this, but if it were a big issue then it would be all over the papers like taylor last year. Let's just hope that archuletta doesnt get any atv's stolen.

Re: Redskins | Archuleta working on his own

If I'm correct these are conditioning work outs only. I realy don't see how chemistry from these will help with playing chemistry. I know it gives the players a chance to meet and hang out some but pratice and drills will build team chemstry not lifting weights. As long as each player shows up on day one in shape I realy don't care what they do in their off season. As long as their not gett arrested, racing bikes etc...
