Its to be expected, 1st practice and all. The New York media will eat him up for a while though. However I agree that geting rid of Collins was wrong. They need a vet to bring the kid along and now they have to go out and find one. I really see Warner going there, but who knows.

What are you expecting from the guys first practice. If he did well then we should all be pissing in our pants.

I hope he falls flat on his face.

Would any of you turn down the chance to be the #1 pick overall in the draft. I wish that I had the opportunity to play for any pro team. I don't give a sh*t who it is.

Sounds to me like some spoiled little brat that listened to all the hype too much. Maybe he shouldn't listen to big bro or daddy so much.

Word!

The word on Mannning is his brother became very close to Ryan Leaf when they were drafted at the same time. They talked a lot, and became friends. Ryan was surprised Peyton had a publicist and press person to handle his stuff for the Colts. Word is Leaf was treated with none of that in San Diego. Peyton tells Eli, and so the rest is history!

I think they wanted to keep Collins but he was adamant on starting and after they got Manning he refused to restructure his contract. Granted they could have handled it better but I guess they felt they have other options at bringing in a veteran QB with championship experiece.

Actually I had alot of respect for Collins. He overcame some difficult times, and he took his team to the SB. I don't think the team's woes last season were on him, the OL was pitiful, worst that our OL performance last year. I am really concerned that he may end up w/the crybabies, which would be a huge upgrade!

Eli has a big fat target on his back for his stunt during the draft. Hopefully he learns he should be content for making it to the pros. It's a privilidge, not a right.

Eli's target is square on his shoulder pads and Lavar will launch himself right into that bullseye. But I do think Eli will be a great QB in the NFL.

what was the logic in getting rid of Collins? I didnt even think Eli was going to start this year, I guess they forced him to start because they gave up so much. Were they in gap hell? why would they get rid of a mentor. I guess they didnt wnat Eli to pick up his drinking problem

wasn't collins gonna be like a 7 or 8 million $ cap hit? but i don't think they even tried to rework his contract. their giants front office's fate is that of eli cuz when he sucks they're gonna get canned. it's gonna be funny seeing the giants futility this year assisting the team eli kicked and screamed about going to.

Yeah, Collins was getting paid WAY too much to be a mediocre QB, and way way too much to ride the pine.

As far as Manning. He got a say in where he wanted to work, I'd do the same thing. San Diego is a pit of a football team. No future.

They have a slightly better O line, and a better back to back him up, so he'll take more sacks in NY, but he'll learn a lot more under Coughlin.

If Collins agreed to re-work his deal he'd still be there. But why should he have? The Giants just drafted the "QB of the future" (more like the present) and Collins would only be serving as a mentor. Collins still has a few more quality starting seasons left in him, if I was him I'd be looking for another starting job too.

Exactly. If he took the huge pay cut and stayed he would have had to put the Giants in the playoffs and have an 6-1 TD-Int Ratio just to keep the job all year. Anyone on the planet see that happening? Everytime he threw an Int or took a sack, even if it was the WR or O-line's fault the boos and cheers would have came out. Plus the next day some jerk, who never played the game in his life would be writing in the NY papers that they should start Eli. Who would want to put up with that?
