50 aka Rod Gardner

On ESPN Insider they have a mock draft and talk about how Green Bay signed Rod Gardner - "The Packers have done a good job recently of addressing their needs at wide receiver (Rod Gardner)..." http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft...odd&id=2372493

Since when is signing a player who couldn't make a team on Carolina who was desperately looking for a compliment reciever to Steve Smith a good job?
If he is the 2nd reciever I would be amazed... but this is pretty much another example of how our signings of Lloyd and Randle El are ignored while 50 is considered a "good" pick up.

I don't recall anyone saying that Lloyd or El were not a good pickup they questioned the size of the contracts and how we would use all of our WR. Now thats a good problem to have. I realy don'e get the Rod Gardner comment. He had a great opportunity in Car opposite Smith because he would draw most of all the attention and he did nothing.

I remember Gardener playing in Green Bay's last game at the end of the season. He wasn't spectacular, but definitely solid.

I think he might actually catch on there. (no pun intended)

Yeah according to some things I was reading, he had an unexpectedly solid couple of games, especially in light of his not knowing anything about the offense. I guess GB coaches liked what they saw of him...

He is a great receiver 50% of the time. I don't mean that to be funny. I think he will be good. I think he can develop hands.

Re: 50 aka Rod Gardner

Id like to post about my favorite Rod Gardner story. There is a club in DC near Dupont called 1223 (I know it well because of its Thursday happy hours...$15 all you can drink from 6-9, but I digress).

Apparently Mr. Gardner went there for an evening on the town, pulled up to the curb and handed his keys to the valet, who took his car. And I mean that literally. Took his car. Because there is no valet parking at 1223.

The car was actually later recovered, because when the story was reported the thief abandoned the car in the FedEx parking lot. But any man that stupid really shouldnt be a Redskin.

Edit: Here is a link to the original story...haha I forgot that he initially denied it. Probably embarassed... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Dec30.html

How funny, I work like up the street from 1223...I think the chics are okay on Thurs. You may want to check it out on Fri/Sat.....more international flavor those nights.
