We will draft a DB with our first pick.

Given that Walt Harris and Matt Bowen will be cut, and that defensive players are usually ready to play before offensive players, I firmly believe we will draft a DB with our first pick. The player will most probably be a CB. If you listen to the pundits, this draft is deep at DB and weak at WR. Gibbs will give Williams another toy to play with and give him another reason to stay right here. This will give us Springs, Rogers, Jimoh and TBD rookie at CB...

ill agree with you there. a good de could be had with our next pick (even though id prefer OL depth) well get a WR in FA, possibly a DE too and draft at CB, LB and DE.

Re: We will draft a DB with our first pick.

Our second round pick will be the best player available. If there is a D-back who can step in at the 53rd pick, fine. I've seen mocks that have us drafting Maurice Stovall at that pick, and I don't believe anyone would be upset if that happened. I've seen Kamerion Wimbley in more than a few mocks as well.

i think there will be some great OLmen available then. you think we would take them if they were first available?

It's possible, but since CB is a deep position in this year's draft, an OL would probably be a backup, and a CB could be a prominent player in a nickel capacity, I'd go with a CB.

Wow, that's a run-on sentence...

Many of us are already discounting Springs, but I think he has a very good season ahead of him. Could be wrong, but that's just my gut feeling. Also, if his speed starts to decline, have him put 15 pounds on and he might make a nice strong safety. I'm just not sure if he's strong enough? thoughts?

i dont think anyone is discounting springs so much as were saying he cant play forever and since the cb depth is great this year, we can get a good one in the later rounds

Re: We will draft a DB with our first pick.

I seriously doubt we will be drafting at TE that high. Maybe a project guy in the later rounds.

It's hard to say, but I think Cooley will become more of a true TE, and Sellars will play the FB/HB role in Saunders system.

Who knows, I could be completely wrong.

Re: We will draft a DB with our first pick.

if pope is available, you gotta draft him otherwise i still like OL or some of the LBs more than the CBs there... but there are good cbs.

and i would be pretty pissed if we took stovall at 53. one good season and he's SLOW.

Who is discounting Springs? I think he is in our top 5 defender list...

Re: We will draft a DB with our first pick.

our main problem is depth. we dont need any big name free agents, except maybe a replacement for arrington and maybe for Royal also. I really think patten can be our number 2, he really hasnt had a chance yet because of his injury. What we need is solid recievers to play under him and moss, cuz we dont want to insert thrash or jacobs if there is an injury. Build through the draft!!!!

I disagree with nearly every comment you had about Shawn. No offense.

Ya think Pope will be there at 53? And that's the knock on Stovall, plus he's not great at seperation. That's until last season. Maybe he'll end up in Philly. He's from that area.
