Vernon Davis?
hey everybody....
would anybody be willing to move up on the board to go get this guy. I looked at some higlights on fridge TV on the maryland website and he just never seems to go down. their is a moment where he drags 4 clemson defenders for about 5 yards and just gets forced out of bounds doesnt even fall to the ground. He's got good hands, runs well after the catch and has great work ethics. he would be the perfect fit at TE but is it worth it to trade up to go get him cause he'll definitely be gone in the 2nd round. |

Re: vernon davis?
how do you propose we move up in the draft to get a top 10 pick?
But i would love someone from the UMD! look what Merriman does. |

Re: vernon davis?
Vernon Davis is a stud who will help whichever team drafts him. I saw most Maryland games last year, and Davis proved he can make big plays. He'd definitely be better than Robert Royal, but the price might be way too high. Analysts predict Davis will go in the Top 15.

Re: vernon davis?
No way do we give the rest of our picks to get this guy. I say we wait a few years and get him via free agent.

Re: vernon davis?
I heard on ESPN that mel Kiper rates him higher right now than kellon winslow when he came out.
but there is no way to get a top 10 pick |

Re: vernon davis?
no way. a TE that doesn't block worth crap isn't in the top 10 of team needs even. even if we went up that high, i'd bet hali or m williams would be rated higher for us.
pope, klop or day are much closer to team needs at TE and they'll be 2nd-4th round picks. You should never move up to take someone you don't really need just cause he went to your school |

Re: vernon davis?
Whoever our TE is will have a good year(s). Signing Al Sanders will be good for the TE, but bad for Moss. Tony Gonzalez excelled under his system but to be honest with you I am not too familiar with any of their recievers over the last during his 15 year stint with KC besides Dante Hall; who makes the headlines on special teams. Correct me if I'm wrong...but the last Wideout that they put in the Pro Bowl was Andre Rison.

moss can still take a 2 yard pass and run an extra 80 on it, so i doubt he'll be too hurt. Gonzo is a lot faster than cooley though, i don't think a new scheme is going to all of a sudden make him a hundred times better (but an 800 yard a year TE that leads the league is YAC ain't the worst thing in the world to have). |

Re: vernon davis?
We need a second WR and a DE over another TE

Re: vernon davis?
If we're moving up I definitely wouldn't look for a TE. While Davis is a great player, I think Robert Royal, even though he's had some bad games, and even that undrafted Auburn TE (who we may have cut, I don't remember) are serviceable at that position. As for the pick, I'd take the best DE/WR on the board, unless there was a CB on the board that seemed to drop far too far.
This draft is all about trying to give the Redskins depth in the future. I don't think we really need another WR with Patten around, and if we get one get a big boy. Rod Gardner minus drops.
