Stan Hixon's Son
A complete non-sequitor: Coach Hixon's son suffered a very bad injury last season and I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not he has made a complete recovery or what his current status is. As I recall, he was in a coma for a short time but did come out of it.

Re: Stan Hixon's Son
You know I was actually thinking about this the other day. Here you go.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...010402208.html Jan. 4, 2006 Wide receivers coach Stan Hixon said his son, Drew, who suffered a life-threatening brain injury in a football game in September 2004, has completed his degree in finance and is now interviewing for jobs. Drew Hixon graduated from Tennessee Tech University on Dec. 17, and is back with his parents working at a local Nike store while he mulls career options. It was unclear for a while whether Hixon would survive the head trauma he suffered during a Tennessee Tech game, and later there were concerns about regaining substantial cognitive abilities to function on his own. "He's doing well," Stan Hixon said of his son, who previously interned in the Redskins' football operations department. "He has some interviews lined up and he's looking for a job."

Re: Stan Hixon's Son
I saw something about him. He's doing well although I got the feeling that it is kind of a long term recovery. I seem to recall he was up and about. I think he was at Redskins Park hanging out with his Dad.
Update: I should have known TAFKAS would beat me to the punch with links!

Re: Stan Hixon's Son
It's nice to know that everything is slowly returning to normal for him. Well, except that he can't play football again. I hope he gets a good job that pays well.

Re: Stan Hixon's Son
I am sure he will land on his feet. That is why being a student-athlete is such an amazing opportunity if you take it seriously (which he obviously did, graduating with a finance degree)...even if your sport doesnt work out you still have a college degree to hang your hat on. Im glad to see he wasnt putting all his stock in an NFL career.
Seeing Hixon come back from a coma to graduate certainly is an interesting foil to the Chris McCray story...a kid who had every opportunity and couldnt put it together. |
