Salavea/Runyan play?

Anyone see what actually happenned when Runyan got the penalty and Salavea was beside himself? Thank god his teammates calmed him and the coaches kept him out a few plays. What happened?

They were just locked up with each other fighting it out in the trenches, Joe was trying to outmuscle him and Runyon threw a right cross to the head.

So he was 'giving him the business' ?

Who was it that used to say that?

It was some referee, he said that on a personel foul call when he tried to explain why the penalty was called, still probably one of the funniest calls a referee has made.

That play turned the game around. The team was flat and Joe's fire changed the whole mood of the game and I think helped us win!

Runyan deserves a game ball for that boneheaded move!

Re: Salavea/Runyan play?

I read in either the post or the times that Runyan hit Salavea under the helmet in the throat. Good thing Griffin stepped in, or Salavea might have gotten ejected.

Ben Dreith, NFL referee, explaining a 15-yard penalty over the intercom: "Number 99 of the defense, after tackling the quarterback, was giving him the business down there."

Re: Salavea/Runyan play?

runyan is one of the dirtiest players in the league.he was getting interviewed afterwards and talking about his impending free agency said "let the bidding begin"and then went on to say its all about the money.

Not here! Besides, he is a tackle and we don't need a tackle.

Re: Salavea/Runyan play?

I'd take big Joe in that fight any day. Runyan would be searching for his arm like that dude on the beach at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan.
