Probably about 5 like I had the last time I moved. Ungrateful shits ! LOL, I definitely meant to put friends in quotation marks. I kinda find it funny that all of these people are called my friends when I wouldn't have seen about 79% of them had I not been on the computer. It's cool because I found a guy I went to High School with and havent seen since graduation, but it takes the suprise out of it.

I ran into a guy I went to school with at BJ's in Bowie and I was siced to see him, it'll be different now cause I'm like click your my friend now.

But like I said, probably about 5 of the effers would help !

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

You guys are going to think I am ridiculous but I have almost 800 friends on Facebook. And I haven't gone all Twitter with it either, and added celebrities, etc. All my "friends" are people I have met and at the least had a conversation with. Many are people I have spent significant time with.

I think if you realize these people are not really "best" friends and sometimes more just a network, it isn't a big deal.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

Yeah I know folks that allow their lives to be dictated by facebook or the other way around. I know folks that will defriend someone after an argument and then friend them again once they are over it. That's freaking dumb to me, or even get upset because someone is on a different level on their page,...or was that myspace ?

I don't know. It'll help out with some stuff but,...meh...I hardly return calls on my cell so I know this will go to shit

She was half-kidding, but I went ahead and signed up anyway.

I was actually pleasantly surprised. Within hours of signing up, I had reconnected with lots of my friends from my college days down in Florida who I haven't spoken to or seen in several years. Plus I put lots of wedding/honeymoon pics up for family and friends to see.

I'm not spending much time on there, but it's been pretty cool to look at pictures of old friends who have since started families. I certainly don't see myself turning into one of these people who is habitually updating their status, checking for friend requests, etc etc.

I see my primary usage as sharing photos with friends/family.
I've gotta say, I've stuck to my guns very well. After 2 months, I have about 115 friends on Facebook. They are all people I'm definitely friends with, or relatives (aunts/uncles/cousins/my dad). I've turned down several odd friend requests (weirdest was a request from an ex-girlfriend from YEARS ago - very bad break-up).

I have all the privacy settings on the strictest possible, and turned off ALL alerts, so I don't get emails or texts about ANY facebook activity whatsoever.

I find myself spending about 10 minutes a day on the site.

I talked a good game when I signed up, but I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty concerned it would turn very addictive very quickly. Not so much.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

Yeah out of 71 people there is one person that I can say that I don't know. If I do then I met them in passing but we are connected in a way. Everyone else I requested were folks that I knew well. This can be fun but it can be addictive. I'm sure the "fun" of it all will run out by tomorrow.

Come on I bet at least 780 of them are good friends. I only have like 10 friends.

Myspace just got too cluttered, I stopped using it right about the time all the pre-teens started loving it. I hated how cluttered the interface was, like you couldn't login without your comp slowing way down because all the videos and junk that would load on the Myspace login page. I disliked how they kept trying to create a better homepage, I liked it the way it was and then they just kept overloading it with way more junk than was needed, like movie trailers and concert alerts I don't give a shit about. That's why I like FB now, it's because it's very simple and basic to use and they aren't overloading it with unnecessary crap.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

Bump. Saw this video and decided to resurrect this thread. So anyways, I'm not sure how serious Anonymous is about hacking FB, and I think if they did do it they are capable of doing something as large-scale as that, but I don't know why they'd give FB notice months in advance that they are going to do it, as I'm sure FB will spend a lot of time now upgrading their security to prepare for it, credible threat or not. I've had my FB deactivated on and off again for a few months now, and I'm sure I'll deactivate it again before Nov. 5th, but I highly doubt that will do anything to protect my security since FB probably has all my info already. Either way, if Anonymous succeeds in shutting FB down, either temporarily or forever, I probably won't miss it too much. All my important friends got my number anyways, so it won't be the end of the world.

And here's the video, btw.

It's more of a challenge if you point to the D Lineman and say "That's where Riggins is headed, see if you can stop him".

Me gusta Anonymous.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

Kind of interesting the Redskin sub culture of Facebook. I noticed that people will put their fan affiliation as there middle name. For example Joe "Redskins Rule" Smith. Anyway once you add one of these people, you'll get suggestions for lots of other Redskin fans. This one girl had like 800 friends and 300 were classified as "Redskin family", most having a Redskin middle name.

Same here. Idw my info being exploited for financial gain by FB. It's too late for me to do anything about it now but if what they're saying is true then by all means shut it down.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

Am I the only person on here that has made the conscious decision to let their internet persona be an extension of them in reality? I mean, if you wanted to find my real name and some basic information about me, I don't think you'd have to look too much further than Google.

I know that gives a lot of people the creepers, but I don't see what the harm is. I don't put information on the internet if I don't want it there. I don't use Facebook's privacy settings because I'm not under the illusion that I'm in the business of selectively disseminating info about myself to the public. If you really want to see a number of pictures of me doing silly things, or if a potential employer wants to see me doing silly things, they're more than welcome to. I don't break the law, pretty much ever.

I feel like I'm in the vast minority on this one. I think the internet (and facebook, and blogs) is a powerful tool to go make a name and or career for yourself. You can now make your own self a personal brand. If that's not your cup of tea and you're planning on using the internet as a one-way relationship, I guess I can understand that. I'm just not that kind of person, I guess.
