It's just such a huge time suck. When I was on MySpace, I would get sucked in and next thing I knew I had been in front of the computer for like 2 hours.

Plus like Schneed says- all the privacy issues are a big turn-off - Facebook "accidentally" leaks access to user names and passwords, etc etc. No thanks. I just don't feel any need to put my business out there, even if I can control the privacy settings (right up until Facebook screws up and has yet another privacy breakdown).
Well, I bit the bullet. My wife signed up for Facebook on New Year's day. She gave into the urging of dozens of her friends. So of course, once she signed up, I got a bunch of crap for not being on there. Basically "my husband is like a ghost because he's not a facebook" type stuff. She was half-kidding, but I went ahead and signed up anyway.

I was actually pleasantly surprised. Within hours of signing up, I had reconnected with lots of my friends from my college days down in Florida who I haven't spoken to or seen in several years. Plus I put lots of wedding/honeymoon pics up for family and friends to see.

I'm not spending much time on there, but it's been pretty cool to look at pictures of old friends who have since started families. I certainly don't see myself turning into one of these people who is habitually updating their status, checking for friend requests, etc etc.

I see my primary usage as sharing photos with friends/family.

I like seeing old friends and what their up to, and im just getting to that age where people are starting to get married and having kids and stuff. Whats really wierd is when you see a girl you banged back in the day with a kid. I think if i started a family i would de friend all the people im not close to or still keep at least moderatly in touch with.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Just two or three years ago, none of my friends had kids. Now a lot of them are getting married, and several have young kids- like 2 years old or younger. Pretty awesome.

And as far as chicks from back in the day... LOL. I'm friends with several who were notches on the old bed post back in the day. Ahhh, college.

You sent the info on how to delete the account when I was just looking at how to close the account and there is a difference from your own link.
I think this guy can help
