Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey

since brunell is so young (in his prime) and our 3rd stringer is an expert in gibbs' offense; i think it'd be foolish not to trade a quality backup for a 6th rounder. i'm surprised we're jippin' them for that much! he's a real big hit to the cap too............................................... .................................................. ........

quality backups aren't important these days...

I don't think you'd convince Patrick of that.

Could be, but Brees is months away from testing that shoulder. Will he be strong enough to perform at 100% in 2006? Do the Dolphins wait or take a bird in the hand?

It depends on how they feel about Ramsey.

He will be a man and do what is needed because he is a stand up guy!
There's a guy by the name of Jason Campbell....maybe you heard of him?

Should have screwed the Dolphins in 2004 when we had a chance. Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard they offered a 1st round pick for Ramsey. Personally I believe this being that they gave an early 2nd round pick for AJ Feely.

with the breakdown in talks, we might end up just releasing ramsey and getting zip for him

I read that the Dolphins were, at first, interested in Brunell from the Jags but were unwilling to pay as much as Gibbs. Then, they asked if Ramsey was available and were told no. But I've also heard that rumor about the number one being offered. Of course, that GM was fired so we don't know what opinion the current regime has of Ramsey although Canafora had Miami and the Jets showing interest.

I've also read that at least three teams were interested in Patrick but no hints on who the others were.

ramsey is way better than a sixth rounder. If worst comes to worst, and it was either a sixth rounder or releasing him, i'd probably take a sixth rounder. But please, he's definitely worth at least a fourth.

I remember that they offered the 19th overall pick. Too bad we can't go back in time and take it.

When it comes to it it isn't his call!!! He is A Redskin to 06!!! Now why I would not let him go for a six round pick.....1-If Burnell goes down the season could be lost. 2-How many times have we seen a so called Stating QB start the season as the number 1 guy and isn't by seasons end? 3-You most likey will not find a QB with Ramseys NFL know how for that price. 4-If I can't get a 2nd or 3rd keep him. 5-Look at past Redskins history look at D. Williams taking over in season to leaded us to a Super Bowl and on and on I could go with this. 5-He just might be what many of you think he is!! A great QB and Burnell just might show he is broken down come this summer[like many of you believe]. 6-Last...many of you may know more about this but if he dose move on next season do we get a pick for losing a free agent that we drafted in the 1st round? I am sure there are other reasons as well but 6th pick shows no value!!! :headbange

The question is more what do the Skins want to pay for a 3rd QB guy. $1.6 million seems a little much to me. But it is dirt cheap if Brunell gets hurt for the season or something and we are left with a 2nd year guy who has not seen the field yet and a backup with experience, AKA Ramsey.
sign randel el as #3 receiver/ backup 3rd string QB save cap/roster space.

You quoted me when posting this but I don't think you followed the meaning of my remark which was a response to Dirtbag 359 since you have gone off on a tangent here.

Re: Clayton: A 6th round pick for Ramsey

Ramsey is worth much more than a sixth. Situations play a whole lot into how a QB looks to fans and the media. Ramsey has been in some bad situations since being with the Redskins. I like to look at and compare to Brees situation he was blasted as being washed up in his first year or 2 in San Diego. Brees fell into place though when Philip Rivers held out if he had not held out Brees could be out the league or a 2nd or 3rd stringer for some sorry team.. In comes Brees and for the past two years been one of the best QB's in the league. Ramsey 4 years have not provided him a situation really to succeed. We laugh at his record and his stats if you can evaluate talent in the NFL and know anything about his potential and the situations he has succeeded in and the ones he has failed he warrants more than a sixth rounder, CBA and his current situation and the ball really in other teams court with it being no secret that he is gone and has very little value to the team may drop his value.

I feel that the reality of the situation is that Ramsey's worth may be determined more by our situation then how many games he's played, or with what velocity he throws the ball.
