See no offense bud, but I think this is the exact kind of stuff that I am talking about. The majority of America wants to crucify him and make him the scapegoat, but he isnt to blame for the issue for racist. I am sure a shitload of people may have thought similar things as Imus and I am sure a lot of people found it funny, and are now talking about how it is a bad thing.

My point is racism is present everywhere, but instead of addressing the problem we hide it until its ugly head comes out after an issue like this. We as Americans need to discuss stuff like this and try to accomplish something rather than just blaming someone and making them the scapegoat.

That does absolutely nothing at all.

Lets get this straight, comedians and rappers refer to all women who do ho'ish things hos regardless of race. I can't recall ever hearing them utter "...Black Ho." Just because the rapper is black and he calls women hos doesn't mean he is talking about black women.

Oh I know, but along with racism Don Imus made a sexist statement which is an issue.

I think the issue is a combination of sexism and racism which needs to be addressed. Like I said I am playing devil's advocate. I dont support what he said, but if you read my last post which was a response to 100% Whoopass; I think that summarizes my position well.

Perhaps black people are too sensitive? Perhaps there aren't white comedians with some balls or capable of pulling it of right? Give me an example of the kind of black jokes you would like to see a white comedian do. Or the kind of jokes you'd like a black comedian stop doing.
If I knew the answers to those questions, then I would be a commedian. But the ones that I would like to see stopped are the frequent stereo types about whites that sound like this.
Cant Dance or got no rythm, are rich, never struggled through life because they're white, speak proplely, have small genitles, have no coordination, like mayonaise, dont get into trouble for no reason by cops, have no understanding of black culture, hate hot sauce, good at ice skating and hockey, cant jump, are slow, are racist, cold weather people, like to eat p****, afraid of people that aren't white, dont know how to F*** his girl right, will just stand there if something pops off. Look the list goes on and on. Either its ok for all commedians to do jokes like this or none.

It is almost insulting to use a word that slave owners once referred to black people as.

I just think it is a stupid term and just stupid to distinguish between nigger and nigga. Neither should be used.

And this isnt just me, many significant black leaders think the usage of the word is offensive and shouldnt be used.
To me. saden, this is the main problem. I am very familiar with black culture, jokes and community. I still think it is a huge issue.

Re: Don Imus

I listened to it. In my opinion respect is a two way street. It is either ok for everyone to make jokes of that nature or no one at all. Me personally, I like and laugh with those commedians that we afore mentioned. But, those people that were laughing, should not be upset when all of a sudden they are the brunt of somebody else's joke.

Being insulted is a form of being badgered. You didn't ask for it, and it bothers you that you got it.

That kind of stuff is really lowbrow in my opinion. Top tier comedians don't do that kind of material. Most audience members are white and the only way to stop this low lowbrow is for white people not part with their money.

Anywho, we'll talk about this some more tomorrow. Got to sleep now. Peace.

Coon, Sambo, Negro were used to make an entire race feel that they were less than human. This is the history of America in black and white. Rappers are mental casualties of war who were left to survive for themselves in the streets of America with no real understanding of who they are , where they come from and how words can be used to empower or destroy a peoples minds.
Everything you said is on point and historically correct, so I have no bone to pick with this aspect of it. In fact, when something like this does come up, as did with Imus, it tends to be a lot of moving pieces to it and people tend to focus only on the comment(s) itself, as well they should.

I think the problem with Imus' comments, in particular, was that they were so degrading, sexist, and ,yes, racist. That being said, I think blacks tend to get a pass when saying such things and yet consider it base and immoral when a white man pretty much echoes those very sentiments.

In some kind of weird and twisted way, some black or a group of blacks have become an enabler to Imus in his views over the years.

Mike Wilbon wrote a very good article in yesterday's Post about the whole thing.

And now the Rutgers womens team is going to be on Oprah today. I mean, enough is enough. Stop giving notice to this. Why aren't the Lady Vols on Oprah? They are the champions after all.

Yeah, his article was definately a good one and it seems to confirm that Imus deserved to be fired.

On a related note, am I the only one who doesn't find Mind of Mencia dumb? The guy does nothing but try to appeal to base-level race jokes. Chris Rock makes a lot of such jokes, but his whole career doesn't rest upon them.

Media. Everyone has to get their interview now. I've got a feeling we're just seeing the beginning of this.

I'll bet a shiny nickel quite a few rappers are taking note of all this. I'll bet some will drop such lyrics from their songs. Some will talk about the incident.
