Re: Thank the Heavens Marty Lasted One Year

I remember thinking...we're going to be in for a sweet season next year after we wen't 8-3 down the stretch with Marty. Lavar and Gardner were both playing well, as I remember, we just needed an upgrade at QB. How times have changed...he even said that was his best coaching job ever. As far as the Skins go...we're probably not going to the superbowl next year, we're probably not even going 8-8.

spurrier was a joke as redskins coach.he just did'nt want to put in the time or effort to win.he also let all his redskin qbs take major beatings because he did'nt believe in protecting the qb.
goodbye, good riddaance and bad luck to his rich underqualified ass!about the only thing his playbook was good for was wiping your ass with the individual pages!

I think Marty's a great coach (in the regular season anyway) but don't go with the absurd thinking that he, or anyone else for that matter, would do better job than Gibbs and the boys if they'd have less talent. Our salary cap situation would be just the same if anyone else was coaching this team.
Yes , Portis did miss a lot of time , but his backup averaged close to 5 yds a carry , so while CP was missed , its not like we had a bum running the ball. I agree we had injuries , but had we not traded mulitiple picks < 4 for JC > ; 3 for rocky ; 2 for brunell , two for Loyd ,;2 for Cooley , we would have had depth . As far as the cap , many teams are more than 10 million under the cap .I heard them on ESPN ,saying that Ny , Phil & dallas are all 12 million under , and they have draft picks . We are always having to renegotiate or cut players to field a team because we give everyone 2 to 5 times what other teams give out in signing bonus's. The only star other than CP to miss much time was Springs , If a team can't handle missing 1 key player for any lenght of time , that is bad personel decisions . The eagles have lost a heck of alot more than us , DM , Kearse , Bunkley and they win ? Maybe we get lucky this year with the inj's and the Def. turns around !

Marty fixed our salary cap problem. That probably one of the reasons Little Danny go rid of Marty. Marty should have been coach of the year with the crappy QB's we had with George and Banks.

You make some valid points, but we did have some other key injuries besides Springs and Portis that really hurt this past season. Moss was banged up throughout this season, so was Marcus Washington, Griffin, Salavea, and Daniels. Prioleau was out after the first play of the season and we had a very difficult schedule on top of all that. We were dealt a bad hand all season, and it wasn't pretty. The personnel decisions were not great during last offseason, but I really don't think it was quite the disaster that everyone has made it out to be. I think the wind is definitely at our backs now, and I think next season will be much more enjoyable. This past season was a transition year in so many ways!

I hope you are right ! If the defence returns to 04/05 form , we could make the playoffs . Maybe / hopefuly we get some depth behind Cooley and on the OL .

Re: Thank the Heavens Marty Lasted One Year

I'm really tired of everyone complaining about our injuries. Every team has injuries, look at Philly that had as much as we did and still won the division. They lost there pro bowl Qb and their best reciever for most of the year(stallworth),best pass rusher the freak and thier safety, etc. The gaints lost lavar and most of thier dline with the best olineman too and still made the playoffs. I think their injuries were worst than ours. The reason they still won is that they had depth by using the draft. Not overpaying for FA and trading away their draft picks. Its a damn shame that we cant even win more than five games in the crappy NFC. So its time to stop crying about injuries and start excepting the fact the we are the worst team in the division.

The eternal pessimist, I see. You're definitely in need of some cheering up! Hopefully the Skins will do that for you next season!

Not pessimistic just stating the facts of the situation that this team is in

So you still have hope for this team to turn it around next season? They turned it around after that dreadful 2004 season, and I wouldn't be a bit suprised if the same thing happens again this coming season, would you?

Re: Thank the Heavens Marty Lasted One Year

the dumbest thing marty did the whole game was not telling his offensive coordinator to give the ball to LT more than 9 times in the 2nd half.i think if that would have happened, the chargers would have walked all over the pats ass in the 2nd half!

Yeah Marty was so desperate to prove he could be "exciting" when he should have just been conservative like he always is.
