We could make it a good move by sneaking a twelfth guy onto the field, while no one is looking. Bet those European Footballers never thought of that!

Rod woodson too. It's not out of the question. But I'd rather give K.Moore a shot and move Landry to SS. I don't think Horton has the range though he's had a nose for the ball.

What about Smoot at FS if we can't fill the role otherwise?
I'm sure Horton will play in certain packages. i like the guy and think he could be a quality starter (trading LL might not be a bad idea).

Smoot is terrible. He should be cut.

That's what I thought you meant with Horton, unfortunately it probably doesn't give him much of an option, but if Landry is moving to SS primarily, well.. I'd take Landry too. What other option would Horton have to start other than putting on 20-30lbs or so and trying his hand at ILB? Hard to say.

While at what are we going to do with Player X, what about Jarmon if we switch to 3-4, etc? Probably better for a different thread, but there are definitely a number of personnel decisions to be made on the D side of the ball.
Horton at OLB. He isn't afraid of putting his face in someone's chest and he has the speed to cover the flats...interesting. I was a fan of signing Roy Williams for that experiment last year. Ideally, you want a player that has played the position but these guys are so athletic that they can or should be able to play multiple positions (what's the difference between playing SS and OLB?) Having played both, granted in HS, the only difference is about 5 yards difference off the LOS and coverage responsibilities.

I wonder if he can put that much weight on.

WE need to keep Carlos at CB. Our problems in the defensive backfield are not going to be fixed by simply switching a guy over. We are thin in terms of real talent in safeties and cornerbacks.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm no.

You don't put the guy w/ hoof hands in a position where he needs to at least have the ability to catch the pigskin.

Rogers plays another year or two of football, so long as his physical ability allows him to blanket the better WRs in the league, and then he's history. The notion he was a great corner will go down as the second greatest myth in Skins history behind the one about Landry being a big-play/big-hit safety.

A move to FS would allow Landry to move back to SS, we keep Hall on a corner, and we fill the other CB position in free agency. Rogers is a pretty good tackler but has stone hands when he has to adjust quickly to the ball. The FS position would allow him to keep the ball in front of him (which might help). I don't see him moving into the elite category of CB's in this league, but I could see him as being so versatile from the FS position that he could be matched up against anyone creating confusion for opposing offenses.

If he would go for it, does anyone else think this would work?
Nope.
I think that Rogers has no feel for the ball, isn't good in zone coverage and doesn't have good ball skills.
All these are important parts of playing FS.
If your looking for a CB to play FS i think that Hall has everything you would want to be a great FS.
He has a great natural feel for the ball, he's better in zone coverage and is great when the play is in front of him and breaks down hill on the ball, reacts very well to the ball in flight and has great hands and return ability also he's fast so he could cover a lot of ground.

Huge soccer fan here, and i think moving a CB to S is more like moving a good forward/striker to midfield. Sometimes you get a dynamic attacking playmaking midfielder but you usually just lose a good forward.

Rogers at free safety seems like a bit of a waste, considering that the regression of the scheme in DB aggressiveness (a staple of the Gregg Williams scheme) seems to be primarily to blame for Rogers' poor season, but all the points I would have made seem to have been made already, so I have little to add but to propose a ridiculous defensive alignment.
Alexander in the middle? shouldn't the middle guy in a 3-3-5 bring a double team against him?

yeah that's why I was suggesting maybe ILB.. that's quite a bit of weight to put on.. he has enough speed now, but 30 pounds heavier will he? can he go up against a big TE, rb like Jacobs, etc?

He got a couple of INTs right his way, including tips, I'm not sure that's a nose for the ball.. he's a bit of a liability in coverage.

How about sticking a boot up his ass?

Better yet, how about replacing his bricks with hands?
