Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14

Even if we get a great draft pick if Vinny is around I would not be surprised if he bypassed the O line again and went for another WR. They are in denial about the O Line.

I hope this does not occur - we really need both the 1st and 2 round pick used on the offensive line and than go and get a free agent or two to help fill the gap. In addition in the draft after next year we need to get at least one more offensive lineman with either the 1st or 2nd round pick - the Oline has been unaddressed for too long and now we need to overcompensate for past drafts.

I gave up on this team for THIS YEAR, as soon as we lost to detroit, people were giving me crap saying it was to early, while I sort of agree, I knew we just wouldn't be good, and now I'm glad other people are doing what I did weeks ago and just say seasons over, lets suck the rest of the year and start from scratch and continue to next year with a positive "wanting the redskins to win" attitude.
Well what people gave you crap for was saying 'I want us to lose all of our games so we can get a better draft pick,' which I still think is BS. I don't expect us to win another game this season but every Sunday at 1pm, I'm going to drop into my easy chair and root for us to win. Sure, we probably need to go 2-14 and blow up a lot of things, but to root for that, never.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14

Paintrain - for me at least losing is not about getting a better draft pick this offseason - as in my opinion we are several draft classes away from a complete rebuild that generate consistently competitive teams. My thing was I really hope and pray that the front office revamping takes place because I love the Redskins so much. Even if we get the worst record in the league this year with the current front office I think they would inevitably mess up the draft. Even if Russell Okung fell into their laps with the 10th pick I can see Vinny saying we needed to go with anoter position for whatever reason. When the Skins are getting beat as they are now my blood pressure goes up like many fans across the nation - I want them to win badly but unless they take that ultimate step of revamping the entire front office can we really expect anything different?

If you root for your team to lose then you are not a true fan. Giving up hope and not expecting any more wins is fine but week in and week out you have to stand by your team. If you are going to root for them to lose, stop coming to this forum.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14

I get what Bill B is saying here. Yesterday, i was jumping up and down when we cut it to 7 pts. I want to win first but we need a FO restructure-overhaul which leads to a coaching overhaul, which leads to a player overhaul. The only way for DS to do this is if we're just plain bad. We've been mediocre for to long.

I will follow the team just as much when we start building the team thru the draft and have some assemblence of a plan. I just need a little hope. Only a god awful team this year might persuade DS to make these changes.

It doesn't matter if we need it, don't need it, want it, or don't want it. It's going to happen. If it doesn't, it will look like something very similar.

If the front office doesn't change and Dan doesn't give up some control, then you might as well look forward to the same thing next year, and the year after that, ad infinitum.

I still do to, in terms of watching us every sunday, and I will continue to do so for the rest of the season, but you need to understand that people want us to lose, to do my two reasons from my last post. The rest of my response to you is pretty much stated to you in posts #34-37. Just look forward to April Paintrain!

IMO this is a retarded thread.
This is the funniest and yet shittiest thing I keep seeing in threads all over the place. No knock on you just tired of hearing how some people are "True Redskins Fans" "Real Fans" and "Corps Skin fan", Like everyone else is not and has no clue what is or how to be a fan.

If your looking for the pat on the back you got it. If your looking for the atta boy...you got it. You are better then the rest of us. You guys are more of a fan then the rest of us.

For the rest of us I'm just glad we are not the types to simply accept the mediocracy. It's one thing to be a fan and a completely different thing to be a fanatic. It reminds me of the religous zealots who say "I'm a Jesus fan so I'm going to heaven and your not so your going to hell."

I guess there is no grey area in fandome. I either believe the team can win every game or I'm not a fan. So, touche to you "Real" fans. Thanks for being there for the team because if it wasn't for you there would be no fans at all. Well except for us mediocre fans talking on message boards.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14

I agree with this threads thesis. In the meantime I've found peace rooting for the defense, especially our D-Line. The offense is pretty much a lost cause at this point.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14

Can't get on the guy just because he is rooting for them to lose out. If he was like an anti fan yeah nail him all you want. The thing is he has good reasons to want them to lose and that is a high draft pick, plus the assurance of Vinny's ouster plus a probable GM. The season is a bust anyway. We are not headed to the playoffs, thus any game past loss number 8-9 is a waste of time to be honest. You guys want Vinny gone and a real GM in place? Then you better hope for nothing better than a 4-12 season. Sounds treasonous, but it is a necessary evil to bear for the future of the club.

Dude, the campaign for '09 is toast. 3 more losses will cinch us not going to the postseason. What happens if a minor miracle happens and they win 4-5 games? We lose a top 5 pick and might have to deal with Cerrato still being here. Not like this could happen in reality, but who knows. We are almost already assured of missing the postseason, so what is the point once we hit loss 8-9 by going all out in support? Billy boy is making sense. The season is trash, already, let's hope they suck the rest of the way to build a better future.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14

I agree with the OP 100%. I really hope we go 2-14. I've been a player/fan of Football way to long not to recognize a deplorable team when I see one. When I look at the Redskins, I see*Ghost's* out on the field. Apparitions that will be separated from the organization come the 2010 NFL season. As President Obama so eloquently retorts, "This (season) is a teachable moment". A stark reminder of what not to do when you're running an NFL organization.

This is simply not about losing to get better draft positioning in the upcoming offseason - we are not just one player or one draft from turning things around - we are likely 3 full drafts from turning the corner and building a true foundation and injecting the team with much needed youth in all reality. I hate this because lets be honest - we always seem to be rebuilding in the offseason - but if we are to ever truely turn the corner we need to flush the entire system down the drain from top to bottom - and 2-14 justifies that a lot more than 7-9.
I agree, we get a top draft pick we could trade down, get maybe two first round lower picks, a some great 2nds, our team will be a better team, with the pieces we have........ i trade this year, for a great one next year.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14

The worst thing about us going 2-14 this year is the fact that we're going 2-14 before we blow everything up and bring in new management, coaches, players...etc. So, after reading Smootsmack's thread on "Getting to know the Redskins' Front Office" I imagine that once we do blow up everything, we might as well expect another few win season next year unless the stars happen to align just nicely for us. I don't mind a 2-14 season when it's because the team is young and still trying to build and grow.

I just imagine despite whatever top draft picks we do get, it's going to be a long haul for us to get back to where we're all hoping the Redskins will be in a few years.
