I guess it's safe to say that Trample the Elderly has ruined the original intent of this thread (which admittedly never really took off).

"And right now you deserve The Blessed Sword of God. All hail the Lepper Mesiah! THE MOB RULES!"

WTF?

Guess I should just lock this

I think only a youtube clip could save this thread.

Congress used it for toilet paper a long time ago. Isn't opinion what blogging is all about?

Sorry Smoot, I didn't mean to piss all over your thread. I enjoy your insiders knowledge and a lot of what you say makes sense to me.

I feel for Obama, I really do. If he scews up the country up only as half as bad than GWB. I'd say that he'd be a good President. He's getting a boat load of trouble and history shows us that he'll have to fight his own party more than the Whigs / Republicans.

Barrack = Blessed
Hussein = Sword of God
Obama = I'm not sure what that means in Arabic

I just find it ironic that the last guy (that was our friend) named Hussein was killed. No, I'm not going there. I wish no harm to anyone.

Lepper Messiah = Metallica Master of Puppets Album
The Mob Rules = Black Sabbath The Mob Rules Album

I'm an eighties child what can I say? Heavy metal taught me to not trust the government.

(Hail) I was only comparing the reverence that everyone is showing Barrack to how the Romans showed respect to their God-Emperors.

Citation? While I don't know that much about the draft or all of the rules of the NFL I do know about history, politics, and the Constitution. Prove me wrong if you don't believe what I say.

No, this will not go anywhere. I just get frustrated that I have no say in how my government functions. I used to believe in this country. I bought into the dream. My real beef is with Congress not Obama. Seeing how he was just a Senator I lump him in there too.

I told them not to bail out the banks. F you, pay me. I tell them that I don't want them to outsource our jobs. F you, pay me. I say how come you guys haven't won the war already? F you, pay me. I say you guys should really mind your business and do something about the problems here. F you, pay me. I ask how come I have to follow the law but you don't? F you, pay me. I say you're inflating the money to the point that it's about as valuable as monoploy money? F you, give it to me anyway? I say how come the President can't speak English? F you, pay me.

I didn't just ask these questions on a web-site. I went to all of my elected officials and asked them. Would you like to make a contribution? That's what I got in return.

Outright Socialist? I wouldn't call the bailouts Capitalism? No, they don't have arm bands. That would raise too many red flags. This is soft socialism with a smile, like in Europe.

I'm paying 15% and I'm sure that a lot of you pay more. I don't think my money is being well spent. If you went to a nice place to eat and your NY strip had spit all over it you'd be angry too.

So if you think the government is going to help you out and this is a great day then fine. If that what makes you happy so be it. Somebody might as well get something out of it, we're paying for it right?

Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread

Well while Trample has maybe more anger about our goverment than I do alot of what he says is true about how our goverment has been run over the past 20 or so years. Take education. The goverments solution is to take more tax payers money and throw it into a failing system that is broken. Why is it broken? Just go to any schools parents night and see how only 1/4 to 1/3 of the parents even show up but when will the goverment get the balls to hold the voters accountable for their actions. They won't so they will try and let the goverment fix this problem but its just a bandaid over the real issue. I could give example after example of goverment trying to fix things by just throwing money at broken program. It seems both parties have this problem and just listen to the debates on how who is going to spend what on what programs. Then we vote for the one who is going to throw money at the broken progams we like best.

Sorry everyone, I apologize. I get pissed off sometimes.

I love this Country but I fear this government.

When I took the oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic I meant it. It pisses me off that our government treats it like an old rag.

Let me break it down for you then since you have the lazy gene. What you really want is to live in a Night Watchman State. That is fine, the problem is United States was founded as a Constitutional Republic. I'm sure you know what a Republic is so I won't bore you anymore. I just hope you can figure out what I am getting at here because, like you, I have the lazy gene.

Some day brother people like you will run for office and get elected to serve the people. Only then will we finally have those night watchmen towers.

No, I wasn't lazy. I packed the gear, voted, studied the positions and philosophy, I called their offices, I wrote letters, I donated money. They promised me shine-ola and I got . . . . Guess that's the way of the world and I was just naive.

I doubt the Founding Fathers would recognize this Republic. It's good to see that someone knows this country is a Republic and not a democracy. Everytime that I hear about spreading Democracy across the world I cringe.

I wasn't familiar with the night watchman phrase. You're right. I do support Austrian Economics, Libertarianism, and no I wouldn't have been with the Federalist.

No one would vote for me. I'm to radical. Thanks for the info . . . .

Not to change the subject but dang, Obama could have learned the oath of office before doing so in front of the world.

I think maybe Roberts was the one who blundered it up. He threw Obama off.

Roberts messed up.
He went out of turn and he actually managed to rearrange the words of the presidential oath of office.

I'm pretty sure conspiracy theorist from both sides are brewing a neat theory. The wingnuts will most certainly go with "he's not president because he didn't take the oath properly" and the moonbats will concoct a theory along the lines of "Roberts intentionally tried to ruin the swearing in ceremony."

Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread

Hey Trample, I see that you are from Varina Va. I graduated from Henrico high school in 1988. So I think that you will have an appreciation for some of these interesting nuggets of info that I'm about to lay down.

You see, unlike some of these guys who think that they know about what diversity is. And preach about how we should all be more tolerant. I lived it growing up in a diverse neighborhood in the 1980's. I also have quite a few good friends that are dare I say, are of color.

I did not vote for our current president because of his complexion. I voted against him because I thought that his goals and aspirations to lead America were nowhere close to mine. And the suspect associations he had.

While working today at Highland Springs high school, I noticed that most of the staff and students at this 93% African-American school wore some kind of pro-Obama gear. And also, the school had on their projection screens, news coverage of the inauguration pretty much all during the school day.

I heard alot of things that disturbed me as I passed by these classrooms during my day of work there. I heard things like: "Hey y'all, our president is BLACK! Hey everybody, we got our n!@@a in the White House! There will be fried chicken in the White House tonite!" Or when Joe Biden kissed his sons at the inauguration, I heard a several people say "what is he gay or something?" These things were all said with administrators there in the classrooms, and nobody ever corrected these actions.

I thought to myself that this was a truly sad and pitiful way bring in change. And then you would hear the "Yes we can" chants in the hallways. And, I thought to myself again, yes we can what? Elect an African American for president?.?. We sure did. I just hope that these same people are truly willing to roll up there sleeve and be productive and responsible citizens that would be in keeping with the speeches that Obama gave today.

The world is watching now........

Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread

4mrusmc you're clearly out of the loop and missed the jokes entirely. Some of the language used is crude and offensive but no self-respecting African American would say "there will be fried chicken in the White House tonight" and mean it, not even kids. I mean, I've been giving my conservative friends hell lately with "the White House needs a new paint job," "it's back season," "Obama birthday should be a federal holiday," "the black man is taking over," "watch-out white folks, there's a new black sheriff in town," etc, etc, etc, so on and so on.

Anywho, I find the language you used off-putting. You being an adult and all I wonder why didn't say something and set "these people" straight? Evil prevails after all when good men fail to act.

You Deserve the Navy Cross for teaching at Highland Springs.
I graduated from Varina in 96.
I really don't care about ole boy's race. If it had to be a black guy then I'd loved to get Doug Wilder in there to talk smack and fight Congress like he did City Council.
A local talk station had a test from the 1900s for a high school exit test form some mid-west state. I had a hard time with the questions.
To me they're dumbing the schools down. I barely graduated from Varina because it was the same old drivel year after year. How many times can you read Edgar Allen Poe or The Awakening? When I went to college I got strait As.
I didn't vote for any of them because of their views. Yeah McCain was a war hero but so was Grant and he didn't turn out to be such a great President.
My boys Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter got laughed off stage. I couldn't tell the difference between Obama or McCain really.
Is today a great day? I guess for Black people and Democrats. Yes I understand that it's a big thing for Black people. But MLK said we should judge a person by their character not by the color of their skin. I'm not one of these yuppy types who believes he needs to show the world we're not a racist country, if anything Germany and Japan do!
I just get frustrated, especially at work. They tried to pull that race card B.S. on me just because I didn't like Obama. Homie don't play that. They were all glued to tv today. They were so happy.
So be it. The man won fair and square. I'm just worried that everyone is so entralled with Keynesian Economics and that Obama's and Congress' answer to this economic downturn (and everything else) is to throw money at it. McCain is in the same camp IMO.
Here's a little insider knowledge from working in the banking industry. A lot of banks that didn't need or ask for TARP money were strong armed into taking it. I'll bet you a Silver Eagle that the money they say they can't account for went strait to Red China to pay off some debt so they wouldn't dump the T-Bills they're holding.

Was this a good day for the country? We'll have to wait and see. At least we'll have a President who can speak the language.

Highland Springs and J Sarg get a bad wrap. Y'all have some very good math teachers.
