Re: The Spitting Ejection

I hate belaboring this dam issue but why is it that everyone is acting like this definitely happened? I am not talking about people here because I think we have discussed it enough that it is obvious that it is disputed whetehr he actually spit or not. I am talking about the news media. There has been very little about Taylor denying that it happened and all the sports writes/commentators just comment like they saw clear visual evidence. If one of these idiots commentators would say "you know what? I didn't see him spit on the other guy and he says he didn't so lets not immediately assume it happened" I would be probably crap my pants. These guys are a joke. At least this should be discussed. It shouldn't be totally assumed that this happened when it has been disputed by the person accused.

Exactly my point. Either learn to live with the nasty part of the game, or go watch golf.

Agreed. Everyone kind of said "Mike Carey the ref is a very upstanding man." So all of a sudden that meant he was right?? Did he see something, or did he THINK he saw something? He may be an upstanding guy, but upstanding people are capable of mistakes too.

Not true - the Fox redskins special discussed the incident in great detail and clearly showed Pittman wiping his lower face.

If he did, he didn't wipe it before Carey threw the flag. He must have let the loogie sit on his face. Which I find quite odd.

I think you're right...I believe they showed him wiping his face right after the flag was thrown. That loogie was on his face for a good 5-10 seconds. Pittman is a dirty f@cker! LOL

Re: The Spitting Ejection

Just about everybody on the ESPN radio was of the same opinion. If somebody spits on you, your first reaction is probably to hit the guy but your next reaction is always to WIPE SOMEBODY'S SPIT FROM YOUR FACE. If you watch the replays, Pittman never wipes his face. So how did ST spit then? If he did n Pittman did'nt wipe his face he is one sick MF.
My 2 cents

You got to be a stone cold mother ****er to spit on someone and not even move. His head didn't jerk forward. Spit on something go ahead in anger. your head has to move. it has to. But Sean is one stonned cold mother ****er

i love sean taylor but come on guys, the ref was standing right there and i guarantee he saw it,why else would he call a penalty?guys are complaining about non calls all game long.if he didnt see it,he should be done refereeing playoff football.i thought the crew as a whole did a good job and let them play, for the most part

how many bad calls result from refs thinking they saw something that didn't happen or misconstrued(sp?) what really happened? I know I have an inherent distrust of the officials and what I've seen from the multitude of replays of the situation doesn't match what the ref supposedly saw so I have some doubts and will not throw Taylor under the proverbial bus especially when the people whose trust in this matter counts, his teammates and coaches, r taking him for his word. for once I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Plus it's all in the past now and what matters is what he does this week and with his level of play the last 2 weeks, I think we could be in for a show this weekend. GO SKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spitting is no different than any other insult, and I dont think it means anything in the game of football.

On the street is a totally different thing and what doesn't fly for you and me is completely irrelevant to the NFL.
Again I am amazed that you think spitting in someones face is the same as calling them or their wife a name. They are completely different.

You are correct about the NFL not being the real world and things that get passed off as being aggressive on the field would be criminal acts on the street which is why we like sports.

Football players spitting is apparently a global issue

They might differ in magnitude but they do not differ in intent, unless your argument is about the sanitary issues relating to saliva.

If you're arguing spit is dirty, we can have a whole different argument about how sanitary it is to play in the NFL.

Otherwise, what we're talking about here is disrespecting someone. And someone saying they boned your slut-whore of a wife doggy style (and she liked it) is pretty disrespectful, wouldn't you say?

That would make me pretty hot under the collar. Much as someone spitting at me would.
