Another angle on all this is, maybe Griffin can learn something from Cousins. Maybe he will see what he could accomplish if he trusts himself in the pocket and learns to see the whole field. And maybe the competition will light a fire under him and help him get over this hurdle and improve his game.

It's early the media is building Cousins up, just so they can tear him down if things don;t go well. Being a pocket passer against Seattle is hard to do and will tell us a lot about Kirk.

Joe Theismann stands by his preseason comments that Kirk Cousins was outplaying RGIII - The Washington Post

I hope he comes back and is spectacular, but I have serious doubts about his durability.

It's nice that he was playing well before he got injured. But the key words in that sentence are, "he got injured". Again.
Hind sight is 20/20 Robert has better deep ball accuracy so he goes for the deep ball more. Cousins has to prove he can scare the defense deep pr they will start playing closer to the line on him. He will be tested Sunday. He has his chance, we will see. 44Deezel it is all on Kirk now, you can say whatever you want to say.

Or if you get rid of RG3 and Kirk turn out to be average. People thought Ryan and Schaub were so great. Drop back QBs can fool you sometimes. Beck go the ball out his hands quickly but couldn't scare the defense deep. Cousins has his chance, he will be criticized just as much as RG3 was.

Re: Griffin Out For Undetermined Time, It's Cousins Time

IF you want to save his career I would just shelve him for 2014 and let him work on being a pure pocket passer, and being able to run to need be. He started to slide properly, so he is catching on. He was playing really well before he got hurt. If you put him out there ASAP, it will be like another Shanny move with keeping him in the Seattle game, but if he gets hurt again this time, it probably will mean lights out for career for sure. If Cousins keeps the offense in a nice rhythm, it would be stupid to mess with that if we are making a playoff run as well. At this point it is 2015 or bust for RG III.

Unless RG III has a really great 2015 I can't see us resigning him. If they rush him out this season and he gets hurt yet again, we will indeed have a "Mr. Glass" on our hands.

Exactly, this doesn't have to be a total negative for Robert. He needs to complete the transition before he comes back. I just hope they don't rush him in as soon as he is cleared. He isn't going to become a pocket passer in a month and will just be looking to get hurt again. At that point he may be toast.

Commitment bias is a hell of a drug.
You don't trade Cousins at all, unless he totally blows his stint as the starter!!!!!! RG III gets hurt one more time nobody is going to make a deal for him, they will simply wait for him to be released once his contract is up. If they rush Robert in this season, I am willing to bet he goes down again in 2014. And if he goes down again in 2015, his value is nil. You need a guy that can play QB. Do you really want to go through this again, with needing to acquire a new backup as well? My bet is Kirk will do great against our weaker opponents and be exposed somewhat against the better out of division teams in the NFC. Right now though I think with the exception of San Fran the whole conference isn't all that. Seattle didn't look all that great this past Sunday. You need to keep an experienced player regardless. Can't build a winner with dumping all of your QBs with some experience. This saga isn't going to play out til 2015. Skins would be moronic to get rid of Cousins and keep RG III only to see him go down again, and realize they don't have one decent QB that can stay healthy.

Not to take anything away from Cousins, but any QB looks good against backups...well except Manziel.

I guess will find out soon enough, I have faith he will succeed. Cousins has a much better team than he's ever had including a solid D.

If Cousins stinks we keep him sign him for cheap , if he excels we get picks. Cousins is a basic pocket passer, similar to Colt. Pure pocket passers like Ryan have not been doing too good, they throw a lot of picks. There is a lot of football left. Let's see what Cousins does next week.

Yup.

It's, on some level, disturbing to listen to it

Re: Griffin Out For Undetermined Time, It's Cousins Time

Kirk did what he was supposed to do against a bad team. He's always looked more comfortable in the pocket since those 2 were rookies. He's had 1 good game in relief,he's got to be consistant.
Its way way too early to be talking about a controversy.I sincerely hope there is one by the time RG3 comes back because that would mean Kirk has done well and hopefully we have been winning games.
If Kirk plays like he did last year there is no controversy, you stick Griffin back in there.
