Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
BTW, I did think it was completely baller (and freakishly athletic) of him to complete that pass in the air, after dislocating his ankle.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
That and rookie QBs, but behind that line he might have gotten the David Carr treatment.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
Griffin made two outstanding passes from the pocket - the bomb to Jackson, and a 19 yarder up the seam to Paul. On the play he was injured, it was a called bootleg rollout, and he planted his foot at an awkward angle avoiding the LB. How is any of that reverting to reckless play? He didn't even take a hit. I call that bad luck, and I'm thankful to have a competent backup on the roster.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
Yea its a shame 3 went down like that. He was lookin like himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTz7tRIWfFA the reason we never gave up on him. In 2012 nobody was nicer than rg. Kaep, wilson, luck, outshined his whole rookie class.
But things happen, bad luck happens. Glad Shanny did us one favor beside a division title/playoff appearance... He drafted the Captain.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
Only thing i keep thinking about Griff is how awkward he is. Its weird. He is an unbelievable athlete, but when he is running, jumping, sliding, it is awkward as hell. He has these unnatural motions that a non athlete would have. He is fast but so not graceful. Andrew Luck made a similar bootleg jump pass last week and looked like Derek Jeter fielding a ball and making the throw to first all in one motion. Griff tries it and lands funny and hurts his ankle. Wtf?

Didn't see this posted but we'll find out tomorrow. Looks like it's likely Cousin's team for the year, although RG3 always tries to rush things back.. Of course, remember -- he's superhuman. |

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
I love RGIII and truly believe he has the skills and the brain to lead us to the Super Bowl but he has become damaged goods. I pray he will shut these haters up but now I am backing number 8 bc he is now QB1

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
Positives:
Love to see the next-man-up mentality and it work. Not just Cousins, but across the board with all the injuries. Defense looked great. It was the Jags, so I'm not convinced they're a top 5 defense yet, but it was a good confidence builder for a team that needed one. Our punter has a huge leg. We have a punt returner that doesn't suck. Jags defense was supposed to be their strong point, our offense was able to do whatever they wanted including run the ball at will. No turnovers. Good play calling. Amerson is a beast. This will be on the good column more often than not all season. Trent Ronbinson is a stud. Maybe not ready for full time safety duty, but he's a young guy worth paying attention to any time he gets playing time on defense. Negatives: Injuries. There were many of them and it's hard to watch, especially when Griffin started out looking so well and really needed to get his confidence back. Trent Williams penalty - from where I sat it looked like an equipment problem and the ref flagged him for removing his helmet? Not really sure what happened there. Hall penalty - I was coming around on Hall and then he does stupid crap like this. He needs to grow up. Hopefully he wont be needed next year and we'll be watching two young guys in Amerson and Breeland take over. Rambo is awful. Not shocking, he's not only not a smart player but he's a dumb player. Dumb penalties, bad angles, lost in coverage. The story of his career to date, including preseason. All mental issues. You can't fix that, unfortunately. Waste of a pick. I want to believe otherwise, but watching him get two personal fouls for late hits in his rookie preseason game showed me he doesn't have the intelligence to play at this level. He's done nothing but continue to prove that's the case... Forbath did't do one of the kick offs - do we have a problem at this position? What is going on here... Niles Paul - for all his good play, he just has an issue with shining in big moments... he seems to, pardon the pun, drop the ball... |

I do think that Skins fans have to accept the fact that the player RG3 was in his rookie year is never coming back. He will come back from this injury but I dont ever see him being that dynamic player he once was ever again. |

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives
As I Sat Euphorically seeing the Skins win in convincing fashion, that is something that we have not done in so long! so long that My 13 Year old son said "it was the first time the Skins looked like the rest of the NFL teams."
But At what price? I need to come clean as my heart and my brains are in different places. For years as an organization the Redskins have had very little production at QB [before RG3]...Then we move "Heaven and Earth" and go and get RG3 and I bought in and love this guys character and skills. So I was a little sad for his injury... for him personally and for the over decade plight of the Redskins to get a QB. I was sick! A lot of questions quickly arose...Like is this the end of RG3 in Washington? Then Kirk steps in and we get things moving. I do not think all of a sudden Cousins is an all star! But Redskins history has always told me that we just need a quarterback to lead the ship and get the most out of everyone else. We've won super bowls in the past with average to good quarterbacks. So I am excited to see what we have in him. I need to remind myself to not to get to high or to low per situation. A lot of things will unfold in the coming year. I as always am bucked up for the ride! Last edited by 2BIG2BSKINNY; 09-15-2014 at 09:27 AM. |

Him running outside the pocket, stiff arming a defender then throwing off balance to get a 12 yard completion could easily be considered reckless. That's just how he plays though, he always wants to extend the plays. And to be fair that's what the great ones do, but they also know when to scrap it and go to the next down. IMO he is just not built to do what he did in college in the NFL. He is no Newton, Kap or Luck, those guys are built to with stand a few hits. RG has shown he just can't stay healthy trying to play the elusive QB that extends plays. In the NFL everyone is bigger faster and stronger, it's no where near as easy to get out of bounds as college. And after the knee surgery he easily lost at least one step if not two. And I think that's hard for him to take and understand.
