I've got no problem with that.

Maybe we should have Taylor Swift play all the safety and linebacker positions and she could proclaim that you wil never ever ever hit me with your helmet.

Good luck enforcing that consistently.
When you lower your shoulder your head lowers at the same time unless you have a neck like Jim Carrey.

Jeff Fisher seems to think it is reasonable:

“The ballcarrier is still going to be permitted to lower his shoulder, and the head is also going to come down to protect the football,” Fisher said. “We’re not taking that part of the run out of the game. What we’re saying is, in space, one-on-one, head-up, we’re not going to allow you to load up and use the crown of your helmet. It’s an obvious thing.”

You can lower your shoulder and still keep your head up and away from the contact as much as possible.

The people on the competition committee, including that idiot John Mara, are all for this rule. It's utterly ridiculous. It has some legs to it and I think it has a chance of passing. 24/32 owners have to approve it and they want to eliminate all the concussions out of a violent sport. It's just so stupid.

When it's explained like that it makes sense. They're not taking out lowering of the shoulder. Just can't use the helmet.

But how do you lower your shoulder w/out lowering your head?? ... going at full speed with a 250lbs LB trying to tackle you?

What happens if they flag it on a goal line run? I know what the intent is, but refs still would be determining what they consider to be space?

So if a RB is out in the open, and he's going for the sideline and he wants to lower his head to get a few extra yards, or get a first down, he can't do it, and will get a PF. That's just not football to me.

That's a joke. I'm telling you That's NFL better watch what they r doing.. nobody thought baseball would fall off the planet and now look. Nobody even cares about MLB anymore unless u live in NY or BOS / STLpretty much.

Doesn't apply in the tackle box.

No he can't turn himself into a missile and use his helmet as a battering ram. He may use his shoulder or torso or whatever...just not his helmet....just like defenders can't either. Never made sense to me that defenders would get flagged repeatedly for it when ball-carriers didn't.

74.8 fans disagree. Attendance in 2012 was the 5th highest ever. Football is more popular...that doesn't mean baseball is less popular.
