What did the seattle defense have to do with the injuries. It wasn't a smashmouth or dirty hit, it wasn't a zone read option run, it wasn't some evil man pushing buttons at Buffalo Wild Wings(although I want to make sure a sprinkler head didn't pop up). ALOT of people are making their pet peeves into a part of the reason why RG3's knee gave out.

How many injuries were there this year? yeah I am pretty sure it wasn't just one.

Its a blessing in disguise that Shanny had his blinders on. Heres why - according to a doctor on Sirius this morning a partially torn acl cannot be reattached obviously which leaves you with a weak joint until it eventually tears all the way. So Shanny being the genius that he is left Griff in until it tore. Now he can have surgery in a few hours and be 100% for the season opener. I think KC-1 might have been able to score once or twice and pull out the win with a 14 point lead, but maybe would have fell short of the ultimate goal. We need a healthy Griff to win it all and now we will have one.
In all seriousness, i will never be able to comprehend the decision to leave him, in so im chalking it up as a blessing in disguise. Had we taken him out i believe the injury would have lingered for a long time. Now we just have to hope there isnt another FREAK injury like the one against the Ravens that started this mess. Make no bones about it either. It was a freak injury. When Griff comes back in September he will be a well oiled machine and ready to roll.

From a health perspective, I dont think RGIII should have played to begin with. He should have been inactive. However, since Shanahan decided to start him, at that point, you stick with him just like you would if he were 100% healthy. You only remove him if an injury that prevents him from playing.

It was pretty evident after the first quarter that the injury was preventing him from playing imo.

I disagree. After the first quarter i dont think anybody in their rite mind would have questioned him being taken out of the game. Our offense was literally gaining three yards a quarter. Even though it was a game until late, that had nothing to do with our offense. Once Seattle finally took the lead i knew it was over in my heart. There were 7 minutes left and it was over. I was saying to my friends, "watch here comes RG-3 to do his magic" but in my heart i knew i was just throwing out punchlines at that point.

This poster is 100% right, IMO. It seems to me that, since RGIII was not performing well and there was clearly the risk of further injury to his knee if he were to remain in the game, it was practically a no brainer to pull him.

When asked about not pulling RGIII by the Press, Mike Shanahan mentioned other injured players who also were on the field. No offense to any of those other players, but RGIII is no ordinary player. He is the most talented and dynamic Redskins QB I have ever seen - and I've seen them all since Eddie LeBaron. IMO Shanahan stupidly rolled the dice not just on one playoff game but also on the future of the franchise - and he may have lost both.

I'm po'ed about RGIII's injury because there was no good reason for him to be on the field when it happened.

I didnt have a problem with RG3 playing when he wasnt 100% because this was the playoffs. If it was week 4 I would have been po'd that he was in. There is a lot of talk about the future but the playoffs were now and there is no guarantee of the future since this could have happened in training camp.

I do think there was a point in the game when RG3 was hurting the O more than helping and at that point he should have come out.

You do know 2/3 of all football palyers never return fronm a torn ACL from what I heard on the Mike & Mike show today.

I don't know that I believe that stat. But at this point it is what it is. Dr. Andrews is a proficient surgeon, RGIII has rehabbed the same type injury, so he knows what to do, and then we will see where he is next year. I think we can point to a lot of successful recoveries, and some who didn't. I personally see it as something he can recover from and be an excellent player in this league.

One main thing to consider, is that Griffin isn't a RB, he is a QB. While he does use his mobility, he's not a consistent 30-40 attempts type runner.

As bored (already) of this discussion, I really wonder if we would be hammering Shanny as much if we won the game and even went on to win a couple other games in the playoffs.

He's hurt, not dead. He will recover from the surgery and likely will play at a very high level for the next 8-14 years. He's always said he sees himself as more of an Aaron Rodgers type than Michael Vick anyways. Even post surgery, maybe he goes from a 4.35 to a 4.5. Some of you cats are acting like he will become Byron Leftwich all of the sudden.
