The problem isn't Akin, it's the entire Republican party. They pushed through 100s of abortion bills. They couldn't care less about the economy and that's the truth. Just look at all the bills they've sponsored.

I won't say all, but it's a rather large amount of them that are doing it. You'll find it interesting on two particular people who sponsored a bill last year that would have redefined rape.

The “redefinition” of rape was contained in a federal bill co-sponsored by Akin in 2011 that would have redefined the conditions under which federal funds may be used to pay for abortion.

Currently, federal money may be used in cases of incest, rape or if the mother’s life is in danger. The “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortions Act” was co-sponsored by more than 200 Republicans, including Mitt Romney’s running mate, Rep. Paul D. Ryan. It would have changed the word “rape” to “forcible rape,” which abortion rights supporters feared would rule out paying for abortions in cases of statutory rape or when a victim is drugged or verbally coerced.

The bill passed with overwhelming Republican support in the House but failed in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

In a sign of the potential confusion that could arise, one senior GOP aide said the wording was meant to prevent coverage for minors who engage in consensual sex that results in pregnancy. In some states, consensual sex involving minors is considered statutory rape.

It still blows my mind how a religious nutbag like this ended up on a science committee. My guess is so he can squash any science related funding that would somehow prove his precious religion wrong.

Now that his ass is being fried, I love how he's retracting all these words. He isn't sorry. He firmly believes the crap he said on Hannity's show as evident by the legislation he's tried to pass.

And Ryan, his vice presidential pick, has opposed exceptions for rape and voted alongside Akin in the House, though Ryan now says he defers to Romney's position on the matter.

Not sure why Ryan is condemning Alkin as he is good buddies with him on the abortion stance and feels that women that have been raped shouldn't be allowed abortions either.
