Report: Adam Oates Named Washington Capitals Head Coach

Reports out of TSN say an official announcement is expected shortly. We shall see

Oates is one of my favorite players of all time. Namely because a hockey coach once told me I was like Adam Oates with all the assists (while my teammate was Brett Hull)

I've heard he's a total dick though. Who knows

We'll see. I don't care nearly as much about his history with the Caps as I do about his knowledge of the game, and his ability to handle guys like Ovi. If he can help Ovi get back to his offensive threshold, while still improving his two way game, that would be great. But it's not just about Ovi. I think back to someone who mentioned we need a coach with the offensive mindset of Bruce B., combined with the defensive mindset of Dale Hunter. If Oates can toe the line between the two, I think we will be successfull.

Well, it's a good day for Adam Oates: Joe Sakic, Pavel Bure, Adam Oates, Mats Sundin headed to Hockey Hall of Fame - ESPN

Not a huge fan of it, like the guy and I believe he'll help in some areas of concern, such as the power play and lack of physicality. Problem with me is, this team knows how to play offense, defense on the other hand is the problem and the FO continues to neglect it as far as I'm concerned.

I'm beginning to feel how some old school Redskins fans have felt about the current team, that being I will probably never see the Capitals win a Cup as long as McPhee is allowed to ruin the team and Leonsis continues to only care about selling tickets.
