R.I.P. Chuck Brown

Chuck Brown dies: The ‘Godfather of Go-Go’ was 75 - The Washington Post

After seeing this man play several times I can say that he will be missed. Put on a hell of a show and created a genre of music indiginous to the Washington,DC area. Shame I'll never get to hear him say "Sho' you're right!" live again.

RIP Chuck Brown

CHUCK BROWN "FUNKY BEAT,HOOCHIE COOCHIE MAN,2001" @ 930 CLUB - YouTube
Just heard the news today. Huge loss. I was raised on Chuck Brown and Go-go music in general. Creating a music genre speaks volumes but Chuck Brown's influence goes beyond Go-go and into the Hip hop genre. I would be willing to bet that his music was one of the most sampled by hip hop producers especially in the 80's/90's(with the exception of James Brown). I know for a fact that Ashley's Roachclip was sampled atleast 30 times, probably by your favorite hip hop artist lol. Also, IMO there is no MC as the "talker" in a Gogo band - not even in hip hop. Chuck Brown was a true legend. I am going to miss him.

"Wind me up Chuck!"

Sometimes., I believe

Whether you liked their music or not, there's little arguing (if any) that Adam Yauch, Chuck Brown, and Donna Summer each defined-or redefined- their genre of music. And, in turn, music as a whole. They will be missed by many

I couldn't believe it..still kinda numb over it. I grew up in N.E and N.W., would see and Chuck and the Soul Searchers almost every weekend and frequently during school nights at the Masonic Temple on U St.

Another part of my youth has slipped away into a memory.

Wind me up Chuck...
