But isn't that what we killed the previous regime for? Paying players based on past production rather than potential? How can we determine overpaid or underpaid until we are a couple of years into the contract and see what he's producing?

I think the fact that the Browns and Vikes were after Garcon makes me okay with what we paid him. Overall there appeared to be a big demand for WRs from the get go and that drove up the price of all WRs.

And the fact that the Colts wanted to retain him is always a good sign.

We can determine it by the players resume. Plus free agent wr's usually don't pan out. If we had no intention of letting the young guys develop then why draft them? Could've used those picks on other positions. Now we have Garcon and Morgan which probably means less time and opportunity for Hank, Austin, Paul and Robinson.

Had the Giants gone out and got free agent wr's when Steve Smith got hurt then how would've Cruz gotten on the field? What about Wallace and Antonio Brown in Pittsburgh? Sometimes you gotta trust your scouts and coaching and let your guys develop.

Yeah but both of those teams have established QBs that helped develop those young WRs. Plus, when Big Ben took over in Pittsburgh, he had two experienced WRs in Hines (who was a Pro Bowler) and Burress. If you invest on a young QB, you want to give him weapons right away and not gamble with the development of young WRs.

Sorry but I'm going out and getting quality o-linemen to protect my investment BEFORE I go out and get wr's. Besides, we already have Moss and Gafney here. Those guys are solid vets.

I tend to agree with you but the question is weather or not the line is as bad as we think it is.

I mean we've been over the numbers before,

- They gave up 5 fewer sacks in 2011 then they did in 2010 with their starting LT and LG missing a huge chunk of time.

-They also had a couple games where John Beck held onto the ball wayyyyyyyyyyyy to long.

- And they also ended the season with a string of games which featured a 100 yard rusher.

Good points. It's obvious that the staff probably thinks they're solid there with the lack of activity in free agency. They put wr as the number one priority. We'll see...

Re: Redskins Add WRs Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan

For me its a question of team building philosophy.

Our OL last year was better then the year prior.

But, if I'm building an offense and a team around a young QB I want to aim higher then being better then terrible along the OL.

Griffin would provide an automatic boost to the passing game by himself.
No one is saying Gaffney and Moss are top level WRs.
But if they can be productive with McNabb and Rex then they'll be productive with Griff.
We build the OL ride with Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong give Hankerson a chance to develop and draft a WR.
But the focus would be on upgrading the OL specifically the RT but addressing RG would've been good also.

I like Garcon and Morgan, don't get me wrong.
But I would have prefered to improve the OL this year then address WR next year after we see what we have in Hankerson and the other WRs.
