Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
After the combine, I think that RGIII may be worth the multiple draft picks - assuming that they don't overpay - I would prefer that the redskins only trade the 1st and 3rd this year and a 1st and maybe a 3rd next year.
Overpay or not, RGIII is worth it - not mainly based on his 40 time, but mostly how he handled himself and what he said with the media. He seems mature in his approach, personality, and demeanor. Although Cam Newton is very different from RGIII (even though others think they are similiar because they are both black and athletic), the one thing I remember that stands out with which they are most comparable at - at this point - is the confident and comfortable way they handled themselves in their spotlight with the media. The physical measureables only back up that they have the tools needed to be successful. I think that RGIII won't waste any time with showing that he's worth it by week 1 because that's what maturity brings - RGIII will know one of the shortest points between where he is now and nfl success. The rest of the qbs still have to this to learn plus the x's and o's while RGIII can concentrate just on the x's and o's. RGIII should be the Redskins' first option at this point. |

I heard the Redskins are offering a 1,2,3 this year and a 1st next year.

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
There is a huge gap between RG3 and Tannehill. He's only played 26 games as a QB. He's a converted WR. The guy is a project, not an NFL QB. I think most coaches and GMs would sell his stock right now. He's way overvalued.

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
The Rams may be playing with house money. They could take Cleveland's #4 & #22 picks this year, or hoping the Redskins end up 5-11 again. Netting our # 6 this year and a #5 thru #8 next year.

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
Well we will all see once FA starts how it might play out a little better. If Cleveland signs Flynn and Manning goes to Dolphins then the price will drop a little. For some reason i think the trade could have right before FA starts so the Rams will get most for the #2 picks.

I think Miami lands Flynn have all along, and If I was a betting man I'd say Manning ends up here or Arizona but more likely us. RG3 to Browns or maybe Minnesota

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
If you gave me a choice Manning/Tannehill or RG3? I'd take the 2 QBs .

Its a skillset comparison not draft position comparison. Anyone that has watched enough of Tannehill to have a valid assessment of his skillset and denies the obvious comparison of physical skillset to Griffin and Luck specifically is imo practicing football dishonesty. Quote:
Quote:
A lot of your thoughts on Tannehill appears to be based in your opinion that Foles and Cousins can make throws that Tannehill, which is a difficult opinion to support. Quote:
Despite Tannehill's inability to throw at the Senior Bowl and at the combine no other prospect has been able to distinguish themselves in the eyes of the sports media and enter the conversation as the 3rd QB. (I say sports media because the actual scouting/FO evaluations are well guarded and the media opinion is shaped more by agent/scout/FO agenda double talk then it is the truth. So when the sports media are 'shocked' or 'surprised' when a player gets drafted higher then they expect its much less a 'reach' then the realization that the sports media opinion doesn't always match scout/FO evaluations. But I digress...) If teams have Tannehill rated as the 3rd QB its likely that they have already found the answers to the questions that you have and likely don't share your negative opinions about his downfield throwing that you harbor. |

Whatever can't fit into a tidy little soundbite never gets mentioned. I think its important to note that Tannehill as freshmen lost the QB competition to senior QB Steve McGee who went on to be drafted. Then as a sophmore he lost it to junior QB Jerrod Johnson (also in the NFL) who was arguably the best QB in the conference at the time. (I watched a lot of A&M because I was/am a Jerrod Johnson fan. A lot of QBs playing behind lesser QBs transfer under the same set of circumstances. There is something to be said for Tannehill not only sticking around but helping his team out by becoming one of if not the best WR for A&M. Then as junior he wins the starting spot from Jerrod Johnson during the season. Another important tidbit that gets overlooked that I learned from this interview: NFL Videos: Tannehill taking it all in Tannehill was a QB the whole time, still attending the QB meetings and still taking reps he just happend to be a damn good WR at the same time. Its ironic that his time as a WR is coloring his perception in a negative light when he has more DI starts then Cam Newton and Mark Sanchez. Also if you want to see Tannehill throwing: NFL Videos: Catching up with Cousins don't pay any attention to the interview with Cousins; pay attention to the footage of the WRs running the Gauntlet Tannehill was the first QB throwing in the WR Gauntlet and guess who was standing right behind him watching him make every throw?
