I could easily see how a perfectly healthy Manning at 36 could go to a new team & really struggle, maybe due to little fault of his. He's had such a command of his team for so long & his success has hinged largely on his constant pre-snap calls & communication to his teamates. To come in & get a new team on the same page w/him while he is also learning a new system might be more of a task than most of us think. It might take a year to get in sync, but the guy's physical ability is likely to be declining even if he's healthy.
Yes exactly my point. I think the QB's that might do best in your scenario are the journeyman QB's who have learned how to cram for their next exam/team. I would think players who have been with one team over a long period of time might struggle, ie; McNabb.

"Come on Man" - to the guys who don't think he can learn a new scheme?

Peyton is coming from one of the most difficult offensive systems, will never be out done in the film room, out studied or out schemed. Calls plays at the line of scrimmage, calls all the protections, calls out blocking and can change a play in the same breath.

It's up to the coaches to decide but he certainly deserves a look and from about 25 other teams in the league as well.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)

Personally I don't think Peyton Manning will be physically able nor do I think it would be wise for him to play football; so for me its kinda a moot point.

But, if healthy Peyton is a one man show as far as passing game goes.
Imo it makes little to no sense to ask Peyton to learn your passing game because what are the odds its gonna be better then Peyton's?

If you sign Peyton you sign on for the whole show, you meet him halfway at least.
Peyton installs his offense, Peyton will have near total control of the passing game.
No one works harder at teaching the system as Peyton himself.
We've heard the reports of Peyton going to meet and teach young WRs the offense as evidenced by his work with Gonzalez, Garcon, Collie etc.
I'm sure Peyton and the OC can put their heads together and figure out how to translate Peyton's offense into the verbiage of his new team's language.

If he's healthy Peyton is going to be Peyton.

^ I said bring him in. Lets kick the tires as long as he's cut and we don't have to trade players or picks to get him. I would hope his work habits would run off on whoever is sitting behind him on the roster. If healthy he'd have to be 50% better then what we already have.

But on this issue I'm a skeptic. I thinks he's done and would love to have him here in order to be able to offer (when the time came) a coaching job to work with the young guns down the road.

I think that the Redskins are actually going to end up with Kyle Orton and possibly even resign Rex Grossman. We don't have any firepower to get Bradford or Luck.....

Gotta disagree with you on this one bro.
I can't imagine a 100% healthy Peyton Manning struggling.

"Come on Man" right back at cha!

I stated that it's not all just about Peyton, it's about him learning a new system AND his teamates & coaches adapting to him. He had full control it appeared in Indy for all those years. Can't assume he would have that here or anywhere else. The coaching staff & players would have to adjust to him as well. He's no spring chicken either, how much change would you want to bring upon your organization for a 36 year old? Better in the long run to do that w/a rookie.

As for him coming in & being given full 'control' over the offense, how would that be for team morale? I'm sure Shanny would adapt some things to fit Peyton, but coaching staffs don't gut their entire system for a player unless they're hiring a new coordinator.

Is your name actually Rex Kelly or are you just dreaming of a Rex Grossman to Malcolm Kelly connection that never was?

Just have the Giants sign Peyton to back up Eli and call it a day.

If its for a healthy Peyton Manning you do.
Manning would be the de facto passing game coordinator.

Or just hire Peyton as the head coach since Giant fans are so dissapointed with the job Coughlin is doing.
